Description

Welcome to MediBabble, a free, professional-grade medical interpretation app for healthcare providers. MediBabble is a history-taking and physical exam application designed to improve the safety, efficiency, and quality of care for non-English speaking patients. A timely and accurate history is the cornerstone of medical diagnosis and treatment; the relative difficulty of obtaining one with non-English speakers is a significant barrier to care.

MediBabble currently downloads with English and Spanish included. Additional languages –– French, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, German, and Haitian Creole –– are available as free downloads from within the application.

Features
- Contains thousands of translated questions and instructions all playable as high-quality audio recordings
- Thoughtfully organized by symptom to facilitate comprehensive or targeted medical history-taking all the way from chief complaint to review of systems
- A thorough physical exam section provides phrases used to prepare, position, instruct and educate patients during an exam
- Seven languages currently available: English, Spanish, French, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian and Haitian Creole
- Tested in large university and county hospital settings, including emergency departments, inpatient wards, intensive care units, and perioperative environments
- Does not require internet connectivity once downloaded

- Each phrase closely reviewed by at least two medically-trained native speakers for accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and accessibility to patients of varying levels of education and health literacy

Ratings and Reviews

The best medical translate

I really like this app,

Well thought out and useful, but some rough edges remain

docflash

i'm a primary care physician and speak some spanish. at the very least, this will be helpful in reviewing some of the vocabulary. there are some omissions: for example, in the respiratory chief complaint area, there wasn't a question about wheezing. i didn't review the rest of the app, but there's some good stuff here - it might, tho', lack some essential stuff.

one slight software glitch: in the CC section, once i expanded the system to individual questions, there's no way i can find to make it close again. this isn't true for all the sections', tho'. this might be my fault - i'm using an ipad 1, and i know it's an iphone app.

for the price, it's worth having. and after the wrinkles are ironed out, it'd be worth buying.

Very useful

One problem - when searching for a term, if you want to search multiple times, the app stops working after the first search. I need to close the app completely to do another search. Otherwise I'm loving this app. I'm a first year medical student and fluent in Spanish with a history of working as a volunteer medical interpreter. I love this app because it is well organized and has both verbal and written interpretations/translations. Currently I am learning the hundreds of questions (in English) I should ask a patient during a thorough history. When I come across a question where I can't translate it to a Spanish, this is where this app comes to the rescue!!!
