Description

At Medium, we are creating a network for writing that enables people to make an impression on others. To make them think or change their minds. To teach them something or connect emotionally. Where the quality of the idea matters, not the author’s qualifications. A place where conversation pushes ideas forward and words still matter.

Read: The best reads tailored just for you. You'll find a curated blend of human and algorithmically curated stories ensures you always have something to dive into.

Write: Switch from your phone to your tablet to your computer, seamlessly. Write wherever inspiration strikes.

React: Highlight a particular passage that speaks to you, or recommend it to your followers. Join the conversation by writing your own response to a story that moved you.

What's New in Version 2.32

tl;dr
- Fixed a bug where some publications were missing stories in their home tab
- Fixed spacing between titles and images in previews
- New and improved image zoom with fancy dismiss animation
- New image selection UI in the editor

Well it finally happened. We’re completely out of ideas. The well hath run dry.

We’ve done songs, haiku, limericks, the “fired peter” saga, emails about shorebirds, Kenny Loggins puns, Slack conversations, eulogies, sniglets, word puzzles, jokes, lying, Star Wars parodies (twice), recipes, Windows software updates (s/o Casey Newton), insect names, source code, open letters, text-based adventure games, guest writers (h/t Matt Haughey), topical social commentary, presidential debates, the speech from the first ‘Independence Day‘, hell, we even quit once. So we’re going to have a contest to have YOU write–

What? We already did a contest too? Shut up Greg, that one was different!

So, we’re going to have our contest. The first ever release note writing contest. That’s right, we want you to write our release notes (assuming a standard “bug fixes and performance updates” release). In return, we’ll publish the funniest one* as actual release notes for our app. We’ll also send you one of everything we can find in the office with a Medium logo on it. Entries must be made in the form of a Medium post and tagged with “Release note contest” (with spaces). We’ll accept entries through 10/20/2016 at 11:59 PM PST.

*Our lawyers want us to define “funniest” as the entry we find most entertaining. They would also like to define “most entertaining” as causing us maximum volume in audible mirth, measured in duration, amplitude, and intensity. Void where prohibited by law. Lols will be timed with one of those dunking bird toys.

Customer Reviews

Unobstructive

This part is more about the people who use the app than the app itself.

Some people are writers and some are readers. Some aren't readers, just searchers. Some people are encouraging, others are disheartening, and most are a combination of all these at different degrees.

Medium is used by a community of people who either write or read or both. After using it for a year, and being asked to review it, the fact above is the main thing I think about. That tells me that the medium app does a great job of housing that community, and doesn't get in the way. You usually think about an app, rather than what it does, when there's a problem, when it gets in the way. The only time the app has ever gotten in the way of me being a part was just now when it asked me to write this review. So that's better than almost any app I can think of.

Stop asking if I want notifications!

Update: Medium continues their disrespectful practice of asking me to turn on notifications every time I open the app.

In this day and age, why does Medium insist upon n asking me if I want notifications turned on every single time I start the app! Stop treating your customers like idiots who don't know how to turn a switch on or off.

Also, the release notes should tell us what was changed not provide an opportunity for the writer to show off. It's juvenile and unnecessary.

More useful than reading News!

Try using Medium more frequently than you use News app. You dont get any benefit reading news, but stuff you read with this app – can change your life.
