App wont login using Facebook
I have a Meetup account linked to my Facebook and I _was_ successfully logged in using Facebook not even ten minutes prior to this situation: I logged out of Meetup and tried to log back in. (I thought relogging would update my groups since I just left a few but they were still in "My Groups" tab.) When I hit the FB button to log back, it opened the FB app as per normal use. When it switched back from the FB app to Meetup it failed to login. I hit the FB button again. Same thing. I tried it one more time and Meetup gave me a notice that my "IP has been flagged for suspicious activity."
I am glad Meetup cares about users getting hacked and all but all I was doing was trying to re-login. >_< The meetup app is not allowing me to login anymore using Facebook. No settings were changed in the FB app and I hadn't even manually switched apps to use ANY other during this situation other than Meetup auto-switching to FB. Meetup app is useless to me now since I can't login.
App is wonderful. The problem with organizations I have including my Scifi group is that certain people are favored over me and I always feel like an outsider trying to fit in. Atleasst with meetup, I can meet people without the hypocrisy, the discrimination, and I can be treated no differently than anyone else. I usually meet a decent bunch of people that value my opinions and don't treat their opinions like facts, disregarding mine. In meetup groups I feel more accepted. Unlike specific organizations. Even though I'm not infallible and can be wrong, I feel people could take me more seriously. Many times I'm not wrong. Sorry to spill myself like that. I won't mention names but the Scifi group knows which one it is because that's the only one I belong too.
Great for the right places
I've moved twice within the last year and a half and I've used Meetup both times to make new friends. In the first move it was easier to meet people, make friends, and hear about new events. Lots of people used it, I'd even meet people outside of Meetup who also used it. The second move not as many people use Meetup and the city is much smaller, but it still lets you in on local events and gives you good opportunities to meet people. Not every experience, however, is going to be amazing and not every experience will lead to great friendships or interesting conversations, but I think it's all what you put into it...
