AWARDED MACWORLD 'MAC GEM' 2013 - The Best Memory Cleaning App

Memory Clean is the ultimate app for optimizing your Mac's memory and is best used after you have finished using a memory (RAM) intensive app or game.

With the slickest interface and user experience, Memory Clean stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Note: Memory Clean works by purging the Mac's inactive memory and is best used when you close an intensive app that you do not plan to use again quickly within a few hours. During the cleaning process, older Macs may slow down until the cleaning is complete.

Message to OS X 10.10.3+ Users - Please note that Apple has updated the way Used Memory is calculated and that's why we no longer include 'File Cache' in Total Used Memory figure. If you compare with Activity Monitor, you will see that the Used Memory figure in Memory Clean matches up with what is reported on Activity Monitor. File Cache will STILL be cleaned by Memory Clean.

Memory Clean now has more than 4 Million downloads! We'd like to thank all our loyal users for supporting us for nearly 4 years! Memory Clean has won multiple awards during that time, including the MacWorld 'Mac Gem' and 'Invaluable Utility App' from Apple.

Please kindly help support the development of Memory Clean by leaving us an updated review!

Customer Reviews

This is a nice tool. I like it.

I like Memory Clean. It’s really handy to be able to free up the memory while keeping applications open and not having to restart the computer or any open apps. However, I would like it if there were some options to unable an advanced or semi-advanced mode. Something that gives you a bit more information about whats going on in your memory under the hood. Maybe give you the ability to select stuff that is hoging more memory than other proccess rather than having the whole thing be automated. I’m not saying the automation is a bad thing, don’t get me wrong. I just think it’d be nice if there were a few more options for users who are just a little more advanced than your average Jane or Joe. Example: when I keep Safari running for a long time it starts filling up my memory (more than I think it should) and the automated proccess (while it helps) can’t really get the memorry usage to be less than about half of my total memory (16GB) which I think is kinda silly because I use to do the same kinda work with 4GB of memory, so I see no reason for this dramatic increase in memory usage. Other than that, great application keep up the great work!

Free? HA! It’s total nagware with fake updates just to nag you more

First off I’ll be the first to admit that I like the program itself. It’s clean, does the job and I’m happy. The problem is that it nags you endlessly (which I’m sure has paid off well for the author) but to make matters worse he updates it every week or two with the pure motivation of nagging you more because once you update it then you cannot proceed without answering the stupid nag screen. I’ve used this program pretty much since it had 10 reviews on the app store and the nagging gets worse and worse.

So, either make it free and have the OPTION TO BUY IT VIA A BUTTON LIKE EVERYONE ELSE or make it a pay app but stop with the nagging. I would give you five stars if you weren’t so transparent in your bologna updates just to nag us more.

Review of Memory Clean (Free)

This App does what it promises so I’m happy with its performance. I’ve read about the developer’s penchant for small upgrades to get you to do another review and since I haven’t experienced that yet, I’ll reserve a final 5-Star. That really is disruptive and would definitely affect my rating, even tho this App is free.
There are lots of other tools available and I’m studying them for compatibility and performance by reading the current review of other users. I really do like having this asset!
