AWARDED MACWORLD 'MAC GEM' 2013 - The Best Memory Cleaning App

Memory Clean is the ultimate app for optimizing your Mac's memory and is best used after you have finished using a memory (RAM) intensive app or game.

With the slickest interface and user experience, Memory Clean stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Note: Memory Clean works by purging the Mac's inactive memory and is best used when you close an intensive app that you do not plan to use again quickly within a few hours. During the cleaning process, older Macs may slow down until the cleaning is complete.

What's New in Version 6.0

Fully updated for OS X El Capitan. We’ve worked super hard to optimize our memory cleaning algorithm and Memory Clean now frees up 50% more memory than similar apps. Extreme Clean often frees up more than 100% compared to others!

Please do leave us an updated review for version 6 of Memory Clean! Each and every review counts.

We’d like to thank everyone for their feedback and suggestions over the last year. We are aware that there have been frequent updates to this app as we have focused on continuously optimizing the cleaning logic. We are now very happy with the result and you will be glad to know that we will be moving to a less frequent update schedule from now on :)

Message to OS X 10.10.3+ Users - Please note that Apple has updated the way Used Memory is calculated and that's why we no longer include 'File Cache' in Total Used Memory figure. If you compare with Activity Monitor, you will see that the Used Memory figure in Memory Clean matches up with what is reported on Activity Monitor. File Cache will STILL be cleaned by Memory Clean.

Memory Clean now has more than 4 Million downloads! We'd like to thank all our loyal users for supporting us for nearly 4 years! Memory Clean has won multiple awards during that time, including the MacWorld 'Mac Gem' and 'Invaluable Utility App' from Apple.

Please kindly help support the development of Memory Clean by leaving us an updated review!

Simply does what it says very well! Updated version & Review

Works on the latest Mac OS X El Capitan (which needs the help cleaning RAM). This is a program that no matter how much memory (RAM) you’ve got, you will one day need this tool. In my case I was having a suspected Memory Leak when upgrading my Mac to Yosemite. I needed to recover memory that was being grabbed by an application and this app got the job done. So it’s useful for troubleshooting a problem and using a smaller amount of memory as efficiently as possible.

You may never need it, in which case tuck it away in Utilities just in case or somewhere else safe. Or, OTOH, you may want to run it always (I’m considering that) and it stays in the menu bar showing you your free memory all the time. The overhead is tiny (RAM it uses), the cleaning process is speedy, the cost is $0, and the author is very good too about updating the app regularly! BTW, I don’t rate everything, mostly the good stuff and Memory Clean is one of those. Enjoy!

I use it to troubleshoot also. Look out for Mail and Safari to cause disappearance of App Memory. Others have mentioned third party RAM hogs which don’t release the RAM they use when quitting. That’s a great reason to have this app in your back pocket. VERY USEFUL app.

Because it’s free, there’s a lot of in-app purchases in this and upgrades. So that’s my only negative. If I could take off only ½ star instead of 1, I would. It’s clearly worthy of 4.5 stars! Try it.

Surprised Me

I’m not a great believer in writing reviews because I am brutally honest and I know how hard a developer works to perfect their software. However, I have tried numerous Memory oriented apps especially due to the issue that all the iOS’ seem to use too much kernel-task in RAM. I am an Apple developer and have two apps in the App Store. Out of frustration I finally tried Memory Clean, in part because I have tried everything else and in part because I respect and trust FIPLAB LTD.
I found Memory Clean to be by far the best memory assist available. The basic Memory Clean provides a superb service does everything touted and more. I recommend you don’t hesitate to download and utilize Memory Clean. In addition, if for some unusual reason you decide you are not satisfied with it, the uninstall is uncomplicated without any lingering files that would be better off gone.

Irritating Ads

The app appears to work fine, and I have no complaints about its basic functionality. However, once you start it up, you can’t use it until you click past the “Buy our other apps!” advertisement, which is terrific fun when you’re running a meeting and just need it to work. And the latest tom-foolery is that they’ve added a Notification that advertises the same products AGAIN after you close the app. Or at least that’s what it’s designed to look like — Since the application doesn’t appear in the Notifications page in Systems Preferences, I’m guessing its just a cleverly-designed trick to get you to click through to the Web site.

FIPLAB, if you’re listening, I’d MUCH rather pay a reasonable up-front fee and not have to deal with irritating advertisements for your other products, than to get something that’s ‘free with in-app purchases!’, in which the purchases aren’t simply available, they’re shoved between me and what I’m trying to get done.
