Focus Godsend - Just What I Was Looking For

Only complaint was lack of press & links - I was searching for an app that did exactly this and it was hard to find. I'd tinkered around with using some terminal commands, but this reasonably priced app does JUST what I want it to - hide or dim the menu bar and then reveal it when I click in or out of the menu area respectively. Well done! I wasn't concerned about burn in - I just dont like the distraction of so many annoying, teeny, clutter-y menu bar items. Hooray! So helpful to me as a writer. I love being able to hide the cluttered menu bar, and ESPECIALLY the clock. Hooray!

This app is almost worth buying for the experience—after realizing that it doesn't actually "hide" your menu bar so much as crudely obscure it with a colored bar (color of your choosing!)—of visiting the develop's website to read the passive-aggressive and oddly-written FAQ in which he rails against those simpletons who bought his app to get rid of their menu bars, when every thinking person knows the Mac menu-bar, like death and taxes, is a grim and unalterable fact of human existence. "For MANY YEARS I've been saying that it is impossible," he reminds us, "yet people still blame Menu Eclipse for not being 'able' to do so.'"

With this review I do officially add my name to this roster of mooncalves. After some experimenting I am convinced, yes, that Menu Eclipse is not "able" to hide my menu bar, and, yes, I blame it.

Does exatly what it says it does

This app will not hide your menu, Apple doesn't allow apps to do that.

What this app will do is the next best thing and that is to dim your menu bar. I have the settings so that my menu bar is colored to the same color as the black border on my MBP screen. I can't see my menu bar and that is primarily what I wanted. People complaining that this app doesn't hide their menu bar didn't take the time to read the description before purchasing.
