Smart AI

So, a lot of other reviews are saying that it's too hard because the right blocks don't come at the right time anymore. But I think that's the point. The game gives you blocks to trap you into moves that will make the next block inconvenient to you. For example, it will give you a seemingly perfect arrangement of blocks for the board, only to trick you into boxing yourself in. This means you have to play the game a different way, and pay attention to open spaces. It's hard because the system works to make predictable moves that seem like the obvious choice backfire. Because of this, you have to skirt around predictability and strategize your moves past just the next block, like chess. You have to think ahead. I really enjoy this because it forces you into a whole new gameplay method, making it challenging but fun. That said, I rated it 4/5 stars because I do think an alternate mode for those who prefer the traditional gameplay experience would DRASTICALLY improve this app. It would please both people like me who enjoy the added challenge of a predictability-backfire based system and people who don't. I hope the creators take this idea into consideration!

Too much luck- needs next piece preview. Poor game design to favor micro transactions.

The game is very addictive even in its current form but it relays too much on luck and gets frustrating really quickly. I played about 20 or so games before I got frustrated with the randomness of pieces.

I noticed several times while playing that it gives good combos for two pieces in a row but you have to play the first piece in the night spot. Since you don't know what piece is coming next you end up relying on luck and chance. Games then end quickly and you almost always feel cheated.

The game needs a next piece preview like other puzzle fill space games like Tetris or dr Mario. It's puzzling why this isn't there as it would add a lot of strategy and allow for planning moves.

They do have a mechanic to get new pieces but you have to use coins which is an in game currency for purchase. You also get what amounts to a single discard every time you level. This is probably why they left the piece preview out- so people spend money when they get frustrated.

Poor game design in favor of micro-transactions.

Close to perfection

Merged does one thing right ... it takes a simple concept that contains within it vast potential for strategy and repeat play.

But there are a few changes/additions that could make this a 5-star game. First, enhance user statistics. Show me what my average has been over time. Long-term players need more feedback than just knowing what they scored in the last game.

And two, if you're going to say that coins buy power-ups, then provide power-ups. The trash can is the only power-up you offer. When you only have one, then it isn't a power-up, it's a game feature.
