America's most useful and respected dictionary and thesaurus – with premium content and no ads.

Selected as a "Best New App" by iTunes.

The app has been fully redesigned for iOS 7 to make it even more enjoyable to use.

It’s a great tool for reference, education, and vocabulary building.

The premium content includes over 1000 graphical illustrations, and over 20,000 additional entries covering people, places, and foreign terms.

No internet connection is required to view the definitions or thesaurus (although you do need a connection to view illustrations, hear audio pronunciations, and use voice search).

Poor thing. Nobody listens.

Hey! You never listen to me and you don't upgrade now. What's wrong with your developers team?!!!!!

---previous review---

Hey. This app is really great for English learning. I strongly recommend this to everyone who wants a great e-dictionary.

Here is some pieces of advice that I would like the developer to take into consideration:

1.Organize the favorites.
There're two orders that I would recommend to the developer. One is by time added, and the other one is by alphabet.
And please add a small box or a check mark option, to help the user to identify the words that have been mastered from the favorite list and review them if necessary. Also, these words need to be presented in order.

2. Auto-enabled keyboard.
To enhance the efficiency of an e-dictionary, an auto-enabled keyboard will do much help to the users' experience. And we may use less shadow to cover the logo in order to make up the space that originally taken by the logo and now the keyboard takes.

3. Build-in spelling check.
Sometimes you can only know the pronunciation of a word or just a small piece of impression about a word. Build-in spelling check will do a big favor to those users, especially when the voice search works not as well as it normally is.

Ten stars if possible…

Great way to quickly find that elusive definition or pronunciation, or synonym or antonym on the thesaurus! The verbal pronunciation has settled numerous family disputes among those who have trouble reading pronunciations! … :) :) I really like the word of the day and often share it with my young children to help them increase their vocabulary as well. I have loved book dictionaries since I was a child reading them for fun, and at first I thought I wouldn't like an electronic version, but it's great to be able to pull up words anywhere, anytime. Thank you for making this very helpful tool available!!

Fast & Nicely Done. Decent # of words

This Merriam-Webster app is really quite good and useful everyday. Also, in a relatively quiet room, the voice recognition works well (based on Dragon speech recognition). So, when I can't spell a word, all I have to do is be able to say it. (Note: no speech recognition will work well in a noisy room---that's just the way it is.)
The word database is not as great as the Merriam-Webster Unabridged, but it has covered almost everything I've thrown at it, plus it has the speech recognition and a thesaurus that is a seamless part of the UI (a nice touch). Nice Job.
