Instantly reach the people in your life—for free. Messenger is just like texting, but you don't have to pay for every message (it works with your data plan).
Not just for Facebook friends: Message people in your phone book and just enter a phone number to add a new contact.
Group chats: Create groups for the people you message most. Name them, set group photos and keep them all in one place.
Photos and videos: Shoot videos and snap selfies or other photos right from the app and send them with one tap.
Free calls: Talk as long as you want, even with people in other countries. (Calls are free over Wi-Fi. Otherwise, standard data charges apply.)
Even more ways to message:
Bring your conversations to life with stickers.
Preview your camera roll photos and videos without leaving the conversation--then choose the perfect ones to send.
Record voice messages when you have more to say.
Know when people have seen your messages.
Forward messages or photos to people who weren't in the conversation.
Search for people and groups to quickly get back to them.
Turn on location to let people know when you're nearby.
See who's available on Messenger and who's active on Facebook.
Turn off notifications when you're working, sleeping or just need a break.
Stay logged in so you never miss a message.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Messenger uses location data to make features work, help people connect and more.
What's New in Version 105.0
We update the app regularly so we can make it better for you. Get the latest version for all of the available features and improvements. Thanks for using Messenger!
Why do these new updates to EVERY social media app have to deal with looking and acting like instagram? I was using version 82.0 (or up...that's just the last version it said on there so yeah.) but I don't see anything wrong with messenger being messenger. The least they could do is let me arrange and lock things in place so I don't go completely mad!! I have some sort of OCD with change (if that's even a thing..if it's not, oh well.) Where i have to have it the way it was before i updated it..well..with the recent messages being on top, the active now bar being underneath that, and the older messages underneath the active now bar. That is the LEAST they could do...the MOST they could do is take away the snap chat filters..I do not need any little kids on my phone and taking ridiculous selfies as a dog or something...I honestly do not like snap chat..I'm sorry....hate on me all you want, but I'm me you're you. So..I do me, and you do you, and we won't do each other....deal?
It never occurred to the programers that anyone would not turn on notifications in the iOS for the app. This it constantly harasses you to turn it on and leaves a permanent alert if it cannot access your personal contacts.
It is clear that this is not about contacting facebook folks but stealing your contact information and forcing their stream of Facebook communication down your throat. Nobody needs this program to chat with their friends. Thats why we have phones and a contact list full of names. Facebook wants to get you to move all your communications to them so they can use everything you say and do to monetize their ads.
The MOST HORRIBLE APP FB EVER DEVELOPED!!!
Despite not having the ability to log off once one turn on an IOS device and create an FB account - totally ludicrous nazi overreach of fb. an always on by default once twitter used to be good at spamming folks until one deletes id.
the worst feature of this app forcing a messenger chat out of fb is the USELESS keyboard it rolls out. the fb app has a better keyboard typing interface as shown when one corrects comments, FB messenger chat overly lags, badly misbehaves when attempting to autocorrect it's own ai thoughts that makes one long for yahoo mail and messenger despite the never ending spam it floods your mailbox. it at least lets you log off and type correctly - NO AI included!!!!
