The Orb and David Gilmour Present METALLIC SPHERES
Blending art, music and interactivity, the Metallic Spheres app allows you to experience the music of David Gilmour and The Orb in a new and exciting way. Using original sounds from both artists, tapping the various visual objects on your screen will create a unique soundscape every time you listen. The visualization and ambient tracks blend with your creative touches. It's never the same experience twice!

I'm a fan of the Orb but as much as I love their music, this app is far too limited for more than a few minutes of tapping the screen and wiping it with your finger like you are trying to get a booger off the screen... About two minutes of this you suddenly realize two things. That's _all_ it does and it would be far more fascinating if the user were stoned. In fact, the slow pacing and very limited interaction seems specifically designed with that in mind. Even so, there are scads of free apps that have considerably more interactivity and are more fun to play, inebriated or not, allowing those of us who don't enjoy stonishness to enjoy them as well. Now, if this app handed out candies and munchies, it would be unstoppable..
Wanted to love it, but...
Huge fan of the music, but the app is sort of dull. I was disappointed as I was expecting a music creation program similar to Bloom, Aura, or Trope. This is more of an interactive listening game where you can make some volume adjustments to the instrument tracks off of the album. If you're a big fan, and not seeking a creative outlet, it's not bad. The music is pretty good. The visuals are nice. I wish David Gilmour would refrain from singing about freedom and liberty in the app. Total cornball. It made me cringe. Anyways, you might like it if you consider this to be an interactive version of the album, and not a music creation tool.
Think of the Spheres as the controls of a soundboard. If you concentrate on one sound too long, the other spheres will disappear! It's Gilmour! It's a game! It's an interactive lightshow!
I'd love to see future updates, maybe more songs, more interaction between the spheres and the star field-like backgrounds? Metallic Spheres could have a few more functions, a few more songs (why I rated it 4 instead of 5), but at 99 cents, you can't go wrong here!
Good work, All Hail David Gilmour!
