The Microsoft Authenticator lets you quickly and securely verify your identity online, for all your accounts. A variety of features are available depending on the type of accounts.
Two-step verification helps protect your account by providing an extra layer of security beyond simply your password. Here’s how it works – add your account – either from Microsoft, or any other account that has two-step verification. When signing in, after entering your password, you’ll be asked for an additional way to prove it’s really you. Either approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator, or enter the verification code generated by the app.
Use your phone instead of your password for personal Microsoft accounts! After enrolling your account through the app, you can sign in to your account with only your phone. Just approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator after entering your username, and provide your passcode or TouchID.
Did your work or school organization ask you to install the Microsoft Authenticator when logging in to a Microsoft app or service? The account you created at that time helps you seamlessly and securely access many additional apps and services on this device without needing to log in to each. If you need to set up two-step verification for the same account, you will still need to “add a new account” from this app, and follow instructions provided by your IT Department.

Yet another example of Q/A failure for IOS
In nearly every app for IOS, there is some design flaw. It began when the philanthropic became more focused on the $ rather than the quality. A poor tradeoff indeed.
Once, as an insider, I saw customer service never seen before. But once the focus shifted, and the duplicity of building the 'perfect' O/S using the ingenuity of the people - for free - then charging for the once free - it became clear. The final nail in the coffin was the acquisition of LINKEDIN - another devious player that took and built their value on the backs of individuals naively giving away personal info for free and charging in turn to offer smoke in return - for $2.6B - they entered the dark-side taking money for nothing and providing the product built by the buyers.
Open your eyes and mind to the fact that a new model is being employed - take what you can for free, then sell it back.
Yep - you can fool most of the people most of the time - as long as they can be naive & continue feeding the deceived masses.
But, like all others who did not follow the basic tenet that business = a fair exchange of value, they will implode. Eventually. While those wise enough to spot this chicanery will lament the short-term get rich quick players that understand the difference between output and outcome.
Thank you for the chance to watch and offer yet another example of reviving 'greed is good' house of cards collapse.
Slow to open
Editing review as it does support ⌚️. My issue now is that the app is really slow to launch the first time I use it in the day. The auth window often times out before the auth prompt is presented. I have started opening the app first. This has never been an issue using Okta.
Please add support for watch.
If you select phone type as "other" (don’t select iPhone), microsoft will give you the standard barcode that works with google authenticator.
