I challenge Microsoft

I’ve used OneNote for a long time. It’s the one of the only consistent note taking programs to keep bringing fresher faster ways to take notes. But I have a challenge. Yes in OneNote you can type, handwrite, sketch, highlight, record and more. Yes you can organize, search, and tag notes. But what if OneNote could predict what note I needed for any given moment? What if when I went into my lecture hall, onenote would suggest opening some notes? What if when I went to the gym, onenote would suggest opening my log book or workout routine notes? No longer would I have to fumble around clicking from notebook to notebook or tab to tab, because the “one note” I need in the given moment would be right in front of me. This is a feature no prominent note taking app has, and it’s one that can make onenote the best notetaking app hands down. Onenote team, I challenge you.

Good, but no cigar

One note is very good for filing, viewing and editing a limited number of files. It is not so great due to the following:

- Limited filing options: If you want to add sub folders to any one category or “book,” then this app will not be great for you. Sometimes it is good I have “folder within a folder” configuration to be organized, one note only allows 2 levels of linear filing, which leads to having the need for a bunch of “books” within the program.

- No searchable content: If you need to search for data within a tab, you will have Tom scroll; no text search available. Some PDF’s have optical character recognition embedded into them; when saving a pdf to one note, such ocr capabilities get erased. You will not be able to enter a “key word” to get to a specific location, instead you will have Tom manually search for the content you need. This is nearly impossible when dealing with book chapters, long manuscripts, etc.

The good:

It is great for note taking, slide show notes, and marking up text.

I hope this helps.

Great

This app is great!! There is one HUGE flaw that I have discovered though. When you make a note in a list formate, you cannot check off completed things on the Apple Watch nor if it is checked off in the app will it appear as checked off on the Apple Watch, and therefore I cannot give a 5 star as that would seem like something you should be able to do. However, I would still recommend this app to everyone since it functions magnificently otherwise!
