Great App, but Missing Use Cases

OneNote has been my favorite notetaking app, from a simplistic perspective. The app is clean and concise. It makes total sense on how to use. It’s simple and gets the job done. Other notetaking apps become too complicated and intense to be simple with.

The one downfall of OneNote is that it’s missing key features for taking notes in classes with many matematical symbols and expressions. Everytime I need to perform a subscript, I have to click into the actual settings, which requires 4 mouse-clicks minimum to simple put one subscipt and go back to normal font. 4 mouse-clicks for EVERY SINGLE time I need to input a subscript. Can you imagine how crazy that gets in a Statistics course?! That’s one simple example of its shortcomings with mathematical notetaking.

OneNote Review

amazing app that allows for me to organize my coursework into one central point of access. Allows one to collaborate and brainstorm collectively with a co-creation functionality. Since adopting this application as a notetaking tool, I have considerably decreased my use of the ancient notebook and pen approach to higher education. OneNote is even used in my place of work, in order to streamline pertinent informatiom. From customer information to important work changes, OneNote is pretty much apart of my everyday routine. Would recommend to any college student or someone who just wants to have a more concise, drill down approach to academia and life in general.

Lots of potential, but still needs some work

I love being able to work simultaneously with a team on the same notes. Real time syncing is a huge strength of this app. It is also handy to be able to work on Macs, PCs, iPads, and iPhones.

However, there are regular syncing errors for no apparent reason and no way to fix them. That’s frustrating. Often, syncing errors appear, but all the information appears to be syncing properly.

Finally, MS should work on cross platform formatting so that material could be easily cut and pasted between other MS products (like Word and Excel) while maintaining the original formatting.
