It's ok, but still needs to OS X version has
Update. It is worse. Not only does it not have most of the functionality of Word, but if you use the Apple Pencil to mark up a document Word starts behaving erratically after a number of mark ups. It's hard to believe I am forced to pay money for this stripped down clunky application.
Please grow this up to a real editor and fix the pencil operations.
====
Most products today on iOS have the same feature sets as their OS X counterparts. This little feature creates a fluid environment that allows users to do their job anywhere with any device. This is something Microsoft has yet to grasp. Devices are leaving the realm of desktop/laptop extension and are becoming valuable tools. I don't like being forced to go back to my laptop to do something because the functionality it doesn't exist on the iOS version. I had to quit using Outlook for that very same reason. iOS Mail and Calendar work far BETTER with MS Exchange than Outlook for iOS does. Like the rest of the suite, this product needs maturity.
Most excellent!
I was a bit skeptical when I read Microsoft had "app-ified" Word and, needless to say, set my expectations pretty low. Upon using it, however, I was pleasantly surprised. This isn't some stripped down version of word. As far as I can tell, all the features are there. Sure, it takes a bit of exploring and learning to get used to but that's not really anything new when it comes to a new version of Word. All in all, I am sublimely happy to use this on my iPad. I can work on papers and stories on the fly and, best yet, it allows me to save directly to my cloud so, when I get home, the document's ready to be worked on at my desktop right where I left off.
Problem with Bold/Itals
I am enjoying being able to use Word on my iPad Pro, but am *very* frustrated by a problem occurring with the Bold and Italics functions. There are three ways to turn them on: in the Home menu at the top, in the autocorrect bar at the bottom, and via the command+ controls on the keyboard. Something is happening to make the autocorrect bar turn on bold and italics *together," whenever I try to bold text. I can't get bold text only -- though I can get italics only -- and it doesn't matter which method I use. Command+b gives me bold and italics (in my document and on the autocorrect bar). Hitting the Bold button on the menu at the top gives me bold and italics (in my document and on the autocorrect bar). This bug needs to be fixed a.s.a.p. I use these functions a lot!
