Latest versions are really living up to their potential

This is an excellent app, absolutely invaluable to any user of Office365. I remember all the years of mobile versions of Word, both from MS and others, and this is everything I wished for back then. I highly recommend this for any iPad user who uses Word on the desktop and would like to be portable with it.

I did take away one star, however, for some problems in how some of the features work. Yesterday, for example, I started a document on my desktop, then opened it in Word for iOS to copy and paste something from my iPad. Although the document had been saved to OneDrive and showed up in Word for iOS, the document was blank inside on the iPad. The text showed fine on the desktop, but simply wouldn't show on the iPad. It took a lot of fiddling to finally get the text to show up about 15 minutes later.

This kind of thing happens frequently to me, yet for a system that is intended for collaboration, this inconsistency and slow response via OneDrive is unacceptable. If live collaboration is what you need, you may still be better off with Google Docs for now.

Nice version of an obsolete product

MS Office continues to be a mainstay of the Windows world, but in truth it isn't a very good set of tools; it's overloaded with feature bloat, is complex beyond anyone's needs and integrates very, very poorly with OS X services on the Mac. The iOS version is clean, but suffers from the same mindset of staying entirely in the Microsoft world, which isn't a very friendly one.

There are many, many alternatives for writing, presenting and number crunching, which often surprises people who have lived in Office at their jobs for years. Many of these alternatives are frankly better tools in terms of getting one's work done without barriers. I use MS Office only when it is required for compatibility with a Windows user, otherwise in my work and personal life things are done far quicker and cleaner with other applications. This is a nice version such as it is, but the ecosystem of which it is a part is fading into my rearview mirror.

Word, my favorite App!

Love Word! Dependable and useable. Wish it had more features that the original desktop version have and wish that it were as easy as consistent in use previous versions. And had more features.

However, using Word is dependable and a blessing with the convince of using Word on the iPad. Just what I was praying for in the past.

What I do not like; my work has to go on the Cloud. The Cloud is not private. And, I don't like that if you take a computer off-line, the Microsoft Office Suite will no longer work, freezing you out of your work.
