Ratings and Reviews
Yes I paid for the subscription
So I’ve been wanting to see if coding was for me for a long time they offer allot of starting courses for free the first block in the different types that’s fair to me but I understand that just because someone can draw a beautiful picture in a few minutes doesn’t mean it should be free I went to college and let me tell you THIS IS SO MUCH CHEAPER I CAN CANCEL IF I CHANGE MY MIND IM OUT TEN BUCKS NOT 1000 plus and it’s a well built app and it seems like the have more on there website I haven’t checked that bit out but I think I like coding I keep finding myself coming back to this app instead of Facebook or just glaring at my clash of clans base I can do it on my breaks at work or between loading screens and the little bits of humor they sneak in for geeks is amusing keep it up I know you get allot of people telling you to give this away for free then they pay 11 dollars for Netflix to watch the same show for the 6th time thanks for sharing Ladies and gents and everyone in between and just outside

Hi there. Thank you so much for the kind words. Our team is thrilled to hear that you are enjoying our courses. Keep up the good work and have a great day!
I Can’t Use It
I love not only this app, but the simple idea of it. An app that is dedicated to teaching people about a hidden language in an ever evolving world that relies on technology to work. When I saw that this app existed, I was jubilant. However, my heart sank when I finished the first lesson of How To Make Apps, and I saw that I had to get the premium subscription for more. I became extremely disheartened when I came back to the App Store and found that this was true for every course in the app. I do realize that not knowing this was my fault because the information ended up being really easy to find. The app of the day story said nothing about this though. And I do understand that app creators need to be paid, but as much as I hate them, I would much rather prefer having to watch an ad before each lesson. I would still be okay with the premium subscription to disable ads. I was really hoping to be able to get started learning about coding at a young age in order to prepare for my future career, but this is not possible with the current requirements for the lessons. I hope that you take this review into consideration in the making of this app later on. Thank you.

Hi Jacks's Son, thank you for sharing your experience with us! It's very helpful to read this detailed feedback, even to us as developers and designers at Mimo. We try to make it as transparent as possible that we ask you for a subscription after the first chapter of every course. We are working on more free content right now, our core functionality will stay to pay though. There are no plans to include ads into our app in the longer term, but we hear your feedback and will of course consider it for future decisions.
Not for beginners
I love the idea of this, and wanted to love the app, but I don’t. It is not free, you have to subscribe to go beyond the most basic lesson, and the yearly subscription is $50. This is my assessment after a few days:
It might be good for intermediate learners looking to practice or refresh existing skills, but it is definitely not for beginners. There isn’t enough introduction and repetition of terms, insufficient opportunity to practice and self test, go back and rework mistakes - which is how learners information at a deep level. Instead, it allows you to click through to the next level. The sassy comments for wrong answers are funny, but again, lacking in clear instruction and explanation for beginners. It seems unlikely that it was user tested by beginners. Surprising that the rating is as high as it is. A longer trial period would have allowed an opportunity to see if it was appropriate for someone at my level or not. I believe in supporting a good app and the people who develop it. The short trial time, high price and
promised learning, at this point, appear poorly thought out at best, and deceptive and greedy at worst. I plan to continue working with the app for a while longer. If the experience improves, I’ll revise my review.

Thanks to your feedback, we went back to the drawing board and thought what we were doing wrong here. We spoke with users, made a lot of tests, and refined the first part of our iOS track. We've redesigned it from the ground up and believe that is way better now, and the first user feedback is very promising. We want to make Mimo enjoyable for beginners that's why we put a lot of work into this first new course. We'll tackle the other intro courses next. We would love to hear your thoughts on the new Swift introduction. You can either answer directly to this review or send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org We're looking forward to hearing from you!
