What you use the reminder for is up to you.
Some people get distracted easily, and want to be reminded to stay on task.
For others, distraction is not the problem. They want to be reminded to take regular breaks.
Some people just want a reminder to bring them back to the present moment:
"What are you doing right now? Is it still what you intended to be doing?"
• Simple, minimal interface
Select a sound, set the reminder interval, go. Mindful Mynah stays out of your way. On the Mac, the app lives in your menu bar. On iOS, the app can run in the background as you go about your day.
Mindful Mynah comes with a selection of reminder sounds, all kinds: sharp, soft, dry, resonant.
Some prefer a metallic sound that hangs in the air and creates a sense of stillness, like the church bell or Tibetan singing bowl.
Others like a drier, more organic sounding reminder, like handclap or knock.
Try them all out and see which ones work best for you, or select Random Sound for a surprise each time.
• Remind Me
You can set the reminder interval from one minute to two hours.
If you are using Mindful Mynah to remind yourself to take regular breaks, you might only want to hear a reminder once or twice every hour.
If your goal is to stay mindful of the present moment, or to stay on task, reminders once every few minutes might be needed, at least to begin with, or on days when you find it especially difficult to focus.
You may find that you need less frequent reminders as your mindfulness improves!

Simple and clean
This is exactly what I needed. I tried a few others apps to use as a reminder to both sit up straight & stand up and walk around every 10 or so minutes to help my posture and be a little healthier. When I'm working though, chunks of work don't break into perfect 10 minute chunks and sometimes, I need to skip through one or two because I'm on a roll; when this was the case with other apps, the obstructively do their reminders and it quickly got old. This app, on the other hand, makes a simple reminder that goes off every amount of time of your choosing and that's it. I mentally know what the sound means and I get up and walk around a little while still thinking about my project or what not resulting in an uninterrupted workflow. Simplicity at its finest. Thank you!
A beautiful Zen-like reminder
In it's basis Mindful Mynah is a very simple app, but nonetheless it has a huge inpact on the daily productivity at work and my well-being. What it does is not more than playing a short chime in user-defined intervals, but this app is so well-designed (especially the different chimes) that it feels really comfortable and Zen-like.
I personally use this app to be reminded every 25 minutes to stand up, drink some water, stretch myself a little bit and then go back to work. It's so useful because it is so easy to forget the time when you are too deep in focus, and it is easy to overwork yourself. Mindful Mynah can help you to have those precious little breaks and feel so much better during and after each work day.
Does one thing and does it well
This program plays a single, pleasant tone (several different sound choices are available) at intervals you select. That's it. For me, it's just what I was looking for.
Note that when you open the program, there is no splash screen; instead, a tiny gray bird-head appears with the other icons in the upper right corner of your display (as shown in the App Store screenshots). You can click the bird head to start or stop the reminders, change preferences, and so forth.
Update: I like the previous reviewer's suggestion to take a moment and write down whatever you're doing when the sound plays. I'm going to try it.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
