Avoid the cost and hassle of a ticket and tow during a Snow Emergency. The updated Minneapolis Snow Emergency app now tells you if and when a Snow Emergency has been declared and puts all the parking rules right in the palm of your hand. The app tells you where you can and can’t park on Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 of a Minneapolis Snow Emergency. This app also allows you to sign up for email and text alerts and features a quick call button that connects you with Minneapolis’ Snow Emergency hotline. A Snow Emergency will not be declared later than 6 p.m., so when the snow flies just open the app to find out of one is in effect.
The application has been fully redesigned in an effort to better present important Snow Emergency Information.
Newly updated map features data for all 3 days of the snow emergency, selectable as layers.

Looking for a spot (where you are not!)
There is a significant flaw in the updated version of this app. More often then not, I will look for a parking spot prior to leaving my current location. Meaning I need to look for a parking spot in a location that is different from my own as provided by gps. The new version of this map makes this nearly impossible, constantly dragging you back to your current location and not letting you look at other areas of the map. This promotes unsafe driving as I have to look at the map while driving...
Hope this can be addressed, because this map is very helpful when functional.
Updated app is useless
There wasn’t much to the old app, but at least you could view if there was a snow emergency in effect and see the parking rules for each day of the snow emergency. The updated app is essentially useless.
The new map displays only your current location, does not allow you to pan/zoom/scroll, and only displays the first day of the snow emergency. The Facebook and Twitter buttons take you to the correct webpages, but they are not optimized for mobile, so also essentially useless. The call hotline button seems to be the only button that actually works correctly. Every other button on the app homepage goes to a bad link on the City website.
Winter Parking Restrictions
This app NEEDS an option to view where you can park during the Winter Parking Restrictions, I parked where it was my understanding you could park (odd side of a non-snow emergency street) and was towed and ticketed for parking in a no parking zone, the rules are so confusing and this app that is supposed to help is completely useless until the Winter Parking Restrictions are lifted I mean we could potentially be having to try and figure this out for the next 3 weeks and like the Snow Emergency Rules just reading the rules doesn’t really help understand them as easily as pairing it with a map.
