What's New in Version 1.1.52
We’ve made some behind-the scenes enhancements to improve overall gameplay.
A reflection of it's PC counterpart
Okay for starters how did you do it. How did you port a fast paced game in first person to a 3rd person side scroller and still manage to maintain the fluidity and speed. The game features good graphics a engaging story mode and an okay multiplayer. This is one that should not be missed. The only flaws are that the games story isn't as exciting as its PC counter part because most of it is done through the elevator sequences. The combat is intense (though there are no guns) and the platforming is enthralling. The music...ohhh the music it's great to listen to with good headphones. The only other drawback is that the multiplayer is only local...on one device. So you can't play with other people around the world. In a future update could you add online multiplayer...please!
Score: 8 out of 10: Very Good
Here's the truth about this game.
1.) It's rather short. 14 levels yes but that includes the two tutorial levels.
2.) The chopper with the machine gun is annoying at best, and abhorable at the worst. Get rid of it and replace it with something that fits the game style better.
3.) Many annoyances: a) when Faith takes a hard fall, then just "stops"; b) the chopper, again; c) the tutorial is rather quick, and you'll have likely repeat it more than once to get an idea what's going on; d) the story is rather weak; e) the control scheme is "workable" but needs refinement; f) all of which makes it a bit sad because this game could be a LOT better.
4.) Better tutorial instruction. What do you mean "tilt the device to balance" ...? Tilt left, right, up, down, across like I'm steering a car...?
The graphics are fine. Better to have "okay" graphics with fantastic gameplay than the inverse. While I suspect this is another variant of a common theme these days with "drive-by Apps" it does have a lot of promise. Will it be extended and improved? More than likely not. Should you buy it? Only it's a dollar, otherwise forget it.
A wonderful adaption of the popular console and PC hit. The touch controls are simple to learn, responsive, and a ton of fun. The ability to fully explore levels as well is a shining value. The small app size as well is very nice for any iDevice memory size. The only downsides and why I gave it 4, instead of five stars, is the game is a bit short, and I would love a "free run" mode, (perhaps after completing a level as an unlock) where any level can be enjoyed without enemies. Nicely priced and worth the value. Nice job, EA. If you could implement my suggestions in a long needed update, you'd find a lot of people very grateful, I'm sure. (extra levels, and free run mode)
