Fun Series, Fans Want More!

The television series was such fun to watch and I was thrilled to see a game tie-in! Sadly, there are only two episodes and it is probably too much to hope that they will release more. That said, each episode is a stand-alone mystery to solve within an overarching frame of a larger storyline and I would love to reach the conclusion of that greater story! Most of the time you are playing the Phryne Fisher character and working to solve a murder, but there are side quests with some of the other characters such as Dot, Jack, etc. I love mystery adventure games and the format of this is somewhere between such a game and a game-novel, since you are mostly led through the story but still have to make some deductions on your own to get to the ending. If you enjoyed the books and/or the television series, this download is highly recommended!

Charming game series...hoping they can one day make more

The second episode was a bit stronger than the first and there are a couple quirks that I didn’t love but the real charm here is how well they have captured miss fisher’s snap, crackle, flirt and sass. The characters are incredibly well portrayed in this game and I’m eager to find out more about the overall storyline. The sound effects are very pleasing and the costumes fun. I just wish there were a way to get hints or go back and find what you missed.
One thing that hit me wrong: in episode two a character shows up and before he introduces himself the game label for him is simply the word “Japanese” rather than say “local man” or “worker”. I would say the writers could have worked on the racial sensitivity aspect of this game.

Lovely tie-in, will we ever get an ending?

This is a lushly drawn version of Phryne’s world. The costumes, music, and dialogue will thrill fans of the books and show. I mean who doesn't want to watch Phryne and Jack flirt via telegram?! Reminded me a bit of the old King’s Quest/Space Quest games in that you have to find things in the right order to make use of them. Particularly liked that Jack, Dot, Mac, and even Aunt Prudence get side quests to complete. Would have loved to see Episode 3 and possibly beyond! Maybe with the upcoming Miss Fisher movie we’ll eventually get closure on the story? 🤞
