Got stuck and couldn't finish. After I inserted the 56 crystals and the lamp, none of the lights were responsive, and could not see or find handle to set to III so I read the notebook that I was to go back to the underground water station and get a bulb. Tried this, read the guide, realized this was unnecessary and went back. At this point the puzzle told me I had to insert the crystals, but they were no longer in inventory. I shut down the iPad and restarted it, but the game was in the same state, and since I couldn't skip this puzzle without inserting all the crystals (did but game had no memory of it), the game was over for me. I would have had to play the game from the beginning. Sorry there was this glitch as the game is very good and probably most players will never experience this problem.
Solid HO adventure
Fine graphic environments highlight a solid gaming experience. There's nothing new in the story, layout or design but you get your money's worth in duration and enjoyment. There's a better-than-average bonus chapter at the end in which the designers have saved the best for last on the environmental gaming elements.
I'm always amused by the dearth of original plot ideas in these games (lost treasures, missing parents, boyfriends or girlfriends, lost children, evil spirits, family curses -- just add a spooky island, haunted house, decimated city and then stir.) I'm very sure it's not as easy as it looks and the target demographic prohibits more mature themes. Still it would be very refreshing to find a game that has a plot with PG-13 (or higher) story elements.
Don't slam the game just because you don't know how to play
Note to people who are angry that the battery doesn't fit in the slot towards the end of the game: you don't HAVE the battery. Go get it then put it in. When you're done doing that, review the game. Sheesh.
First off, the graphics of the game are beautiful. Navigation is pretty straight forward with the help of a rudimentary map. Gameplay is quite good and for the most part easy to follow. HOS were very enjoyable, as we're the mini games.
I take two stars off for:
1) hint system is weak. I didn't use it that often, but when I needed it, it just told me that I was finished in that area. When I went to another area, it pointed me to an action I couldn't complete, because I had yet collected an inventory item for. The strategy guide is in the most illogical and inconvenient place possible. You need to exit the game to access it, which is senseless.
2) I'm not one to typically complain about the length of a game, but for $6.99 this one is, in fact, too short.
Overall, an enjoyable game though it may make sense for the price to come down to $4.99 where it arguably belongs.
