Looks like a great book! the app is not the book, though

Tom Taj

Within a couple minutes of installing the app, I am sold on the book. I mean just look at the section that shows great landscapes by the author's contemporaries and you are practically salivating, eager to hear what analysis or comments the author has to offer. The author's own paintings are very fine as well.

If the app gets an update, I would hope it addresses some downsides:
> It works on iPad, but doesn't target it in terms of resolution. and I don't even have a retina display iPad! The audience for the book is very meticulous re visuals, so this seems unfortunate.
> the home screen only works in vertical orientation. Seems like an art related app should fully support landscape orientation. Fortunately the main sections do display just fine in that orientation.

For the record I'd love an iPad version of the book itself, and I don't mean an conventional ebook. An app with all the books content, full res images, maybe some video, and wow that'd be worth the price of the printed book for me.

Love it!
