Catch the vision with us for our revolutionary four-direction typing system, Modality.

Anyone who understands Modality can see the potential for watches, tablets, TVs, VR applications, gaming systems, situations for people with limited movement, and technologies of the future. Can you imagine doing all of your typing in only four directions? Can you imagine how much time you can save by limiting your movement, and how comfortable and natural it can feel to work only with your thumb or one finger on a gaming-style d-pad? This is a big deal, and we want people to join along at these early stages, if for no other reason than to say, "I was there."

But we want your feedback and your opinions as well. Try it out and send us a message on Facebook to let us know how it's going.

Some of the next things we have to do are: remove double-tapping to select a word, increased screen real estate, larger option buttons, and better single-letter entry mode. These updates are all on the way, and we are excited to share them with you.

Nonetheless, we are extremely proud of what we have built so far. It took us a year to do it, and we know that we have created a solid, working, and extremely useful system for individuals and businesses alike. People who work the system literally type up to 62.5% faster than they can with the standard Qwerty keyboard.

So, while we keep working on the next iterations, we are also keeping the price low in order to get as many people on board as we can. The people we want most are not followers; they are leaders. They are those who will catch the vision and will be a part of what we are doing at the ground floor.

It is also appropriate to mention that Joyful Machines is more than just a typing company. We design useful and fun technology. We are always tilting our heads to look at things new ways, and we are always seeking out better ways for people to interact with their technology.

Those who support Modality early on are not just supporting a revolutionary typing system; they are supporting a vision of the future that is interesting, useful, and always new. Our minds are uniquely experienced and uniquely innovative, and our team is uniquely posited, to accomplish just such a challenge.

If I were looking at this from the outside, that vision is something I couldn't WAIT to be a part of. And at such a bargain, nonetheless.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Interesting concept...

Interesting concept with lots of place for improvement. The most glaring omission is the inability of going back to other keyboards. Interface should be more streamlined and in line with the whole iOS feel. There's no reason for the landscape keyboard to look so subpar to the system keyboard. The same goes for the keyboard for inputting user's own words. All these changes make the implementation of the main concept look worse than it is. As far as that implementation goes, user interface us too cluttered and keys above and below The D-pad, are way too small for error free access. My advice would be to remove all those hints, and to find another way to teach users how to use the app. That would give you so much needed extra room. At least make them optional. Overall, app is not advantageous on iPhone SE in comparison with the system keyboard, but it has a lot of potential. I hope it'll be fulfilled.

Just the beginning

Modality has a learning curve to it but you quickly see why they made this app and how much potential this idea has for improved mobile typing. -- This company is on to something big. They have recognized that the majority of the population has been using the same keyboard layout since typewriters. 150 years have gone by since QWERTY was invented and we now live in a digital age filled with little touch screens. Times have changed. Maybe our keyboards should change too.

The real review

Although it was hard to use at first, modality lets me type faster than I ever have with qwerty. Because of the new updates and tutorials, it is much more compatible with personalized words and social media terms. Modality is my main keyboard and I recommend it for all devices.
