Introducing MoneyWell for iPad
MoneyWell for iPad is a full-featured personal finance app that gives you access to direct connect banking and the best proactive budgeting system available.
Fun with Finances
Managing finances isn't something most of us look forward to, but if you can do it while relaxing on the couch or outside on your patio with a tasty beverage in your hand, wouldn't that make it better? Having MoneyWell on your iPad gives you the freedom to do just that.
Touch your transactions. Review your account activity from anywhere you can take your iPad. Capture new transactions with just a few taps. Download bank account details with a single touch.
Quickly find what you’re looking for with a swipe of your finger.
You've never had this much fun balancing your budget. Enter your paycheck and tap to fill your buckets. Instantly you know how much you have to spend in each category of your budget.
First Impressions Matter
When you launch MoneyWell, you're presented with an overview of your income and expenses for the past 12 months and a pie chart breakdown of the current period. MoneyWell also gives you a list of upcoming transactions allowing you to easily mark your bills as paid with a touch of your finger.
Your charts in MoneyWell are more than just pretty pictures, they can be zoomed, panned, and spun to make it easier to examine your cash flow. Pinch to zoom in on an interesting part of your income/expense chart or tap a column to see a pie chart breakdown of your budget categories.
MoneyWell takes full advantage of the power of direct touch on your iPad.
You don't have to choose between bank downloads and sharing your financial information between devices. With MoneyWell's Secure Sync, your finances appear on all your copies of MoneyWell no matter where you entered it. Direct download to your iPad and MoneyWell Express shows you those transactions on your iPhone. Reconcile your account on your Mac and both your iPad and iPhone sync and show your updated balances.
You and your spouse can even share a synced document to stay up to date and on budget. No more late nights tracking down that missing transaction or trying to figure out who spent what because it all happens in real time with MoneyWell.
The Direct Connect Update
This update introduces a handful of changes for those of you using Direct Connect to download your transaction data. They include:
• Better handling of incorrectly formatted OFX. Should allow for Direct Connect imports from USAA once again.
• Surface OFX errors in the Direct Connect & import progress views. Previously network and communication errors were captured but errors reading OFX data were not. This could result in a “peek-a-boo” progress view that appeared to work but actually failed to import anything.
• Consolidate handling of OFX data for Direct Connect and file-based imports. Regardless of the source, MoneyWell should better handle some cases of incorrect OFX formatting.
Ratings and Reviews
NO Secure Sync
Quote from MoneyWell website “As of February 1st, 2018, the Secure Sync feature of MoneyWell will no longer connect.” "we are discontinuing the sync feature until further notice." So why is Secure Sync still listed as a feature? Pretty much useless without sync.
Need Dropbox syncing or iCloud syncing
Just need too sync than 5 stars
Paid App That Removes Features
MoneyWell was a pretty good envelope budgeting app. The developer relied upon a deprecated API from Dropbox for a long time to achieve cross-device syncing. When Dropbox finally removed that deprecated API, that very useful feature just stopped working. The result was that the iPhone app was just removed. This is all after I paid money for the app.
On top of the syncing feature problem the app receives little maintenance and crashes quite a bit when you are using it. Occasionally the most recent data can be lost. I really liked the interface and the features in the app. Now they just need a qualified developer to maintain the software.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
