IMO, this game is way overhyped. 4 bucks for a 45 minute game? They are ripping you off. Don't go saying "oh it's super original so it was harder to make ergo it costs more." With the game engine in place, it shouldn't have taken too much to add more levels to the game. Then they give 8 more levels that should have been part of the game to begin with as DLC. This already put a bad taste in my mouth before starting. I still bought it, since it was temporarily $1.99. I think that's an ok price albeit still a little pricy.
Lets talk about the puzzles. As a gamer, I didn't find them spectacular. You play a game like Braid, and you know how great a puzzler can be. The whole premise of the game is to dazzle you with its "mind-bending" geometry physics. Take that away and the whole thing is just get from point A to point B. I've played games that have had very interesting mechanics, so the mechanics were only "pretty good" instead of "AMAZING!!" for me. It's not a challenge, since you can't lose and it doesn't take long to figure out. It's a time waster. But that's okay for some people. The joy comes from looking at the great artwork and great level design, while doing a not so interesting task. Oh and the storyline is very pretentious.
I've said a lot of bad things, but I thought the game was actually ok. I'm just not as enthusiastic as everybody else.
Absolutely Gorgeous (I change my mind about rating this ten stars...)
If only I can rate this 10 stars! The artwork is amazing and I love it how you did all the illusions! My brain is still twisted on one chapter that I somehow defeated it, but I'm fine! :) Beautiful work, all is worth it! Even though I finished them already, I think the $4.00 is worth it. :D But, maybe add a bit more chapters that follow the Forgotten Shores chapters? ((Is that what it's called?)) Otherwise, GORGEROUS!!
I actually change my mind... I would rate this a three star. Mainly because now that I've already played it, it can get a bit boring once you already know what to do for the chapters. Honestly, I actually deleted this game because it got too boring. Now I redownloaded it because I saw that the app icon changed. I thought some big update occurred and there were more chapters. Ida's Dream was challenging and obviously beautiful, but I was hoping more than four or five chapters, honestly. I am a bit dissapointed now... I will keep this app, though. Mainly because I'm hoping you are making a ton of chapters right now. Also, it's not really worth the four bucks... You can beat it in about an hour. For now, I'll keep it. I'll keep at a three star until a real major update is here.
Simple yet challenging all at once
I love a good puzzle game, I swear my brain craves them. But it's not easy to find a game that can balance puzzles that are simple to understand, challenging enough to actually solve and yet not so challenging all the time to make you want to throw your phone in frustration. This game manages to do all of these things and have such beautiful artwork and sound that it's a true pleasure to experience. I played this before any expansions were available and was so enthralled that I didn't stop playing for hours. The expansions are such a treat, I love when I find that a new one has been released and dive right into it all over again. A must-have for anyone who enjoys thinking outside the box!
