Wonderful program!

I enjoy high resolution lunar imaging. It is important to make sure the telescope has well corrected and aligned optics. The digital cameras used should be ideally sensitive to controlling the fine balance between the dark and bright lunar regions with little smear. The atmospheric seeing conditions need to be quite favorable with as little turbulence as possible. Often the conditions are best when the moon is highest in the sky because we are then looking through less turbulent air. This program helps me plan my lunar imaging session by giving me the option to see how high the moon climbs throughout the day or night by simply moving the slide bar on the the lunar altitude page. This is a huge advantage to imagers or observers and of course also provides rising and setting times for your location. Usually I get fairly acceptable pictures when the moon is 60 degrees high in the sky or above. Under proper conditions you can now increase the magnification of your telescope to see fine lunar rilles, tiny craters and other fleeting details when the moon is at a high altitude above the horizon. While it is not a guarantee of the best seeing by any means this app is great when you can check out the Clear Sky Chart for your area. A combination of using this app and local Clear Sky Charts can really help your lunar imaging and observation experiences. Good luck. Al Paslow, Bethel Park, PA.

Very nice moon app with 2 issues

This is a useful and user-friendly app for basic moon watching. I would give it 5 stars if it had a couple of simple improvements which all other moon apps have that I've seen.

First, there's no percentage of fullness. It shows a picture that gives you a rough estimate, but it would be very easy to put a number next to that picture showing the percentage.

Second, when you go to the calendar, you should be able to tap on a date and have the app take you to that date immediately. Instead you have to go close the calendar and go back to the main screen.

Fix these simple weaknesses and you'll really have something great.

Nicely done!

Update 8/17: this does indeed now open to show data for current date so it's a 5 star app!!

Attractive and informative; easy to use. Would be great if it always opened showing conditions for the current date.
