Morphision provides the ophthalmic professional with a method for quantifying the symptom of distortion in their patients. This symptom is a common predictor of the onset of blinding disease of the eye. Conventionally the Amsler chart has been used to measure this but is restricted to providing a crude pictorial representation of the patients symptoms. Morphision uses sinusoidal patterns to allow quantification of the subjective experience of distortion. The measures of amplitude and frequency allow a record of the severity of the symptom providing a means to monitor the patient and their response to therapy. In APP format the test is quick and easy to apply in the clinical or primary care setting.
Morphision can be used for diagnosis and management of:
Age related macular degeneration
Macular epiretinal membranes
Vitreo-macular adhesion and traction syndromes
The method was designed by Tom H Williamson, Mano Shunmugam, and Marta Ugarte.
