When I purchased this it was with some sceptisim seeing as the reviews weren't great and the alternatives with $30 more expensive. I couldn't have been more wrong though. This is a fantastic little app and how could any one complain at this price. I just needed a quick and easy way to make a photo mosaic for a presentation. You select the photo or image you want to create and then select a folder of images to build the mosasic from. It works great, has more options than I was expecting to get just the right effect. Highly recommended. I'm sure a professional might want more configuration options but for me this was more than enough and good value.
Nice simple mosaic generator with a view annoyances
This app generates mosaics pretty well, and with a few fixes it would be really excellent. I was able to generate mosaic’s very quickly and it easily handled outputting to a large image using hundreds of element images.
There are a couple parameters that are poorly explained (Mix, Weighted % slider), the export pane doesn’t remember its settings and the Mosaic only uses square tiling, having a 3:2 option would be excellent. Occasionally export is extremely slow for no obvious reason. Since it takes a little bit of fiddling to produce a nice mosaic it would be great to save all the settings as a project. For ease of use though, this is a winner.
Just what an app should be.
So many apps out there trying so hard to include too many features, this one does simply what it says it will do, and wont put a bunch of garbage in the way of that task.
I am super impressed at how quickly a 15k x 15k image at high quallity exported, not to mention how easy it is to adjust the settings to make the image look just so.
Five stars all the way, and a bonus star if the developer adds drag-and-drop from iPhoto ;)
