NOTE: Placing your iPhone on a solid surface such as the floor or a table while recording sleep causes MotionX to become highly sensitive to movement. This level of sensitivity is required for users sleeping on a motion-absorbing mattress (such as Tempur-Pedic). However, with the iPhone on the floor or table, noise from the accelerometer sensor can be registered as sleep cycles resulting in a random sleep graph and random sleep statistics.

Ensure that you place your iPhone according to the instructions, either in bed or in an armband, so that MotionX can accurately monitor your sleep and wake you at the optimal time. Please see the in-app guidance for placement tips.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

I highly recommend this app and use it regularly.

This app is hard to beat in regards to sleep tracking and an alarm. The step counter is nice, but it doesn’t seem 100% accurate on my iPhone 4S. But that doesn’t matter, I don’t think, as the sleep functions blows everything else out of the water. I wear glasses and at night when I’m not wearing them, my vision is terrible - especially reading things on my iPhone. When you set the alarm and it tracks your sleep, the clock is easy for even me to read, and the snooze and alarm-off buttons are placed logically and easy to read.

One has to press and hold the alarm-off button for 3 seconds which I find a welcome part as it ensures you intend to turn the alarm off and not just snooze it. Also, I prefer it over having to shake you phone like ultra hard to get it to turn off like some apps require.

When I have it next to my pillow, I think it does a fairly decent job of tracking how well I sleep, but I have no way to verify accuracy as I generally sleep very well.

The heart rate monitor is a great plus, as well, and seems to work reliably.

I certainly recommend getting this app.

Money well spent!

I am not a person who spends money on apps very often, but I decided that I would go out on a limb here and I am super glad that I did. It does a very good job of gauging my sleep habits. It amazes me that I can tell first thing in the morning after checking my heart rate (with the app and my flash) weather or not I have slept adequately. Good sleep=low heart rate. I wasn't sure if the app would work well for me because my husband snores and often times we have a kid (or two, or all four) climb in bed with us.... It does pretty good at picking me up though! I was really surprised actually, when I went back and listened to the sleep recordings it was me, not someone else triggering it. One other thing that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE is the alarm that wakes you up using your sleep cycle rhythm. I AM NOT a morning person and it amazes me at how much better I feel when I wake up at the "right time" for my body. I am a super busy, super frugal mom and wife. I also just happen to be an RN.... Both personally and professionally I think that this app is worth the couple bucks I spent on it!

Pretty good, worth the time & Money

Generally, pretty good, and worth the price, the space on your phone, and the battery it eats. This despite some glitches.

Pros: useful information you WANT to know: tracks your sleep, walks, weight, heart rate.
Nice interface generally.

Cons:
Sometimes misses steps, and sleep state - I see a graph if my step-tracking that shows not a single step for hours, where I know I have walked about 1/2 a mile ...
Same for sleep: sometimes I wake up, get out of bed, come back after some minutes - and the app thinks I was in deep sleep the whole time.

But - Not a lot is missed, and results still useful, hence my 4-star review

Tends to be almost a flat line despite
