MoviePass is the nation's premier theatrical subscription service, allowing you to see movies in over 4000 theaters across the United States for one low subscription fee.
How It Works:
-Sign up for MoviePass to receive your MoviePass card. Download the MoviePass app while waiting for your card to arrive.
-Once you receive your card in the mail, use the app to search for theaters, movies and showtimes.
-Go to the theater and check into your selected showtime using the app.
-Once you have checked in your card will be activated; swipe your MoviePass card with a ticket agent or at a kiosk to get your ticket!
-For theaters that accept e-ticketing via MoviePass, reserve your same-day ticket and seat (when applicable) ahead of time from any location. No need to use your card, just present the e-ticket confirmation code at the theater's box office to get your ticket.

Things have changed
A lot of major changes have been made and I wish I could say it’s been for the better. One major change has been that the plan has been changed to only 4 movies a month. Which in some cases, the majority of the people wouldn’t mind but in rare cases like this it’s kind of upsetting due to the fact that I watch more than 4 a month. I read somewhere, that people who are currently an under unlimited movies plan it would not change so I’m not too upset.
Another change they’ve added is that you cannot be logging in and out between two phones, which makes sense and it’s understandable due to business reasons but I would love there to be another work around because just recently my phone broke and i had to use someone else’s just to watch a movie but i had gotten another one (no in good shape but works for the time being) and now it won’t let me watch movies and it’s annoying.
The third change is that you now have to take a picture of your movie ticket every time you check in with movie pass, and normally it wouldn’t be an issue but with the temporary phone I have as of now my camera is not working and there’s no way I can take a picture of it. Luckily, they have an option where you can choose that you were not able to submit the picture for whatever reason. I will continue to select that option I just hope I don’t get permanently banned from MoviePass.
It’s unlikely MoviePass will read this review but if they do, know that I am more than happy to co-operate
Great when it works, but ruins your day when it doesn’t.
Most of the time, this app and process works fine, without issue, however there are a few issues that need much attention. First, the request to take photos of tickets needs some bugs worked out. I take photos immediately after purchasing, and they are always accepted, and I think it’s fine. Then about every other time I reopen the app to see another movie, it asks for a photo of the last movie ticket again before I can check in for another movie. The app keeps a history of the movie’s I check in for- why can’t it keep track of the ticket stubs??? Second, I recently had an issue where the movie I wanted to watch was sold out, but when I went into the app to cancel it, the option wasn’t there. I let it go and even submitted an explanation as to why I didn’t take a photo of the ticket and the app still marked the movie as one I already saw- resulting in me not being able to see that movie using the pass. I chatted with customer service and was told not to worry, that they could check me into the movie when I went to the theatre. I then went to the theatre and contacted customer service again, and never was helped. It’s been over 3 hours and no one responded to my chat messages. I love the MoviePass, and it’s a great way to watch movies in the theatre. They need to make it possible to cancel out of a movie after the start time of the movie, especially if there was no transaction using the pass for that day.
We LOVE MoviePass!
Just like the title says: We (my mom and I) LOVE MoviePass! We signed up in March, got our cards within a week, and have seen nine movies with MoviePass so far. The third movie we saw I ran into a problem with the app-when I tried to check-in into a movie it kept saying I needed to be within 100 feet of the theater to check-in. Mind you, I was inside the theater when I kept getting this message. Closing out the app didn’t help so I restarted my phone and the problem was resolved. So far that was the only problem I had.
As far as customer service goes, calling them is the best option. My mom thought she lost her card so I called MoviePass and waited on hold for no more than 5-10 minutes until a representative answered. I told him my mom lost her card and the guy said they would send out another. My mom ended up finding her card and when the new card came in the mail she just threw it away and her old one was still activated.
Don’t know why other people have problems with it, it’s pretty simple to use once you get your card(s) and if you read the FAQs. I guess my mom and I were one of the lucky ones to have had good luck with this service. We have also saved a lot in movie ticket costs since signing up with and using MoviePass. I hope they never go out of business, but when and if they do, we’ll be enjoying it until then.
