Works okay but could use improvement

I use this app a lot. It's a great way to view Rotten Tomatoes ratings, read reviews, and see what movies are out.

I wish the process of managing accounts was handled better by them. As an example, I signed in using Facebook on the website and rated movies/wrote reviews. I also created an account at one point through Rotten Tomatoes, and I rated/reviewed movies there. Then there's this Flixster app where I rated/reviewed movies. I had three places where I could review and rate the same movie. This shouldn't happen.

Next, iOS has a background updates feature that Flixster seems to fail to take advantage of. All I know is that when I go to the tab for movies currently in theaters, it takes five to ten seconds to refresh the content. Same with the coming soon movies. It should already be up to date when I go to that tab—no waiting. Other apps accomplish this, so why can't Flixster?

With ratings, IMDb does a better job. When I go to rate a movie on IMDb, I can see other movies that I've given that same rating. This makes it easier to know if I'm gauging the rating right. With Flixster, I have to first go to my previous ratings and review them all, store the ratings in my mind, and quickly go rate the movie I want to rate.

Love it but why is it constantly refreshing???

I use this to looking up movie times and reviews. It's very utilitarian for that and I appreciate it's fairly easy to use interface.

Where it goes wrong is it is constantly refreshing and reloading data. It never seems to cache anything. If i switch to txt someone and come back to the app which had perfectly valid information already loaded it now has to refresh. If I have a crap internet connection, the stupid thing clears the whole screen, then if I'm lucky the info comes up. Why can't it simply cache the data and only refresh once it gets the new data in? Use standard refresh mechanisms that other apps use like chrome and newspaper apps where if i pull down at the top, then it refreshes?

Also I'm fine with the adds, I understand free is not free but please pre-load the add size when drawing the page. The app is very jumpy as it loads the movie data first and then jumps around when the add loads. So I'm about to tap on a movie and end up tapping on the wrong thing when the article loads and the whole page jumps down 200 pixels.

I still recommend the app to most people just it could use some polishing.

Surprisingly useful little app!

I have been using this app since re discovering it recently. I like that i can look up any movie and get reviews and rt ratings but it has also benefits. namely It sorts on netflix streaming movies too. This has opened up a list of undiscovered gems waiting for me to binge watch on my next business travel. Speaking of lists It has a very useful feature for creating a I want to watch list of movies. It also sorts by actors to view articles such as10 best movies starring Jeff Bridges (as an example). It also includes video trailers and extras for many movies even old ones. Great search capabilities for everything movie related. My new go to app for movies!
