Quality info, lackluster performance
I really enjoy the easy access to the wealth of information available from flixter. Information about most movies is readily available for any movie coming out and the rotten tomatoes is a good medium to see movie reviews through. However, I can not excuse the horrible performance issues that have seemingly only gotten worse on all of my apple devices. The app at many times will run very slowly and upon startup will not register my commands for almost thirty seconds. The ads are atrocious as well for they not only are destructing and obtrusive, but they many times bog down the performance of the app. On the iPad, the app will regularly retouching me to the box office page whenever I navigate away from it for too long. It's as if it crashes back to the home screen when that happens. It's a wonderful app, but until the performance issues can be fixed, I hesitate to recommend this to any of my fellow movie lovers and instead use the rotten tomatoes website.
I really do enjoy Flixster, but I do have a few frustrations with the app. When I go to the search bar to look up a movie, actor, or director, the search bar will delete my first few letters and then I have to rewrite the name or end up with a search on just the last part of the word and so it is very far from what I was trying to look up, which means that I have to retype it again. Also, when I am on the page of a movie, actor, or director, then if I leave to go to safari to look up more about the searched object, then when I return I am redirected to the home page and have to redo my search. Typically, I do not open up any other apps and am only gone a short time. When I leave the app I never exit or close the app. I don't understand why this happens, but it is possible that this is just my app with a glitch. However, if this is not the case I would appreciate that there be a change. Thank you.
My go to movie app
I like having this app to go to to check my favorite theaters to see what is playing and I can buy tickets (and reserve seats, if applicable). I read the reviews, which won't ultimately affect whether or not I see a movie, and I can rate/leave reviews.
I agree with the person who said reading long reviews can be difficult. I have the same problem when scrolling - the review collapses and takes me back to the beginning. That's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5
