What's New in Version 3.0

• Redesigned for iOS 7 (Mr. Reader now requires iOS 7)
• New app icon
• Support for devices with 64-bit processor
• Automatic background synchronization (disabled by default)
• Aol Reader added as an additional RSS sync service. Article tagging support is not currently implemented but will be added once the API is updated to provide the necessary functionality
• New service: Add to Safari Reading List
• The Feedbin API endpoint is now editable (Feedbin can be installed on your own server)
• Pull down gesture added to start a synchronization
• Facebook: Share articles with 'Friends of Friends' added
• Added 'Avenir' as a new article viewer font
• Added 'OpenDyslexic' as a new article viewer font
• Added 'PT Serif' as a new article viewer font
• Fever: Trust self-signed SSL certificates added
• Additional 'Article View' option to specify if links should be opened inside Mr. Reader or directly in one of the configured 3rd party browsers/Safari
• The table settings can now be set for each folder/feed individually
• Added 'Coast by Opera' to the browsers section
• Image Caching: Added notifications to inform you about the "finished" or "cancelled by iOS" state when running in the background. You can disable the notifications in the Synchronization settings
• Added the ability to share via AirDrop on devices that support AirDrop

• Image Caching: Starts immediately when, for example, an article is starred and auto download is enabled in the synchronization settings. Previously caching would only start after a synchronization or when started manually
• If offline image caching is enabled, and all article images are cached, then they will be used to create the article thumbnail when offline

• Changed the sync order of the Google Reader API compatible aggregators. There were some unread/read state problems with extremely frequently updated feeds
• Articles table: When you switched from "show all" to "show only unread articles" Mr. Reader did not always hide the read articles
• Toodledo: Using a undocumented method to create notes without getting the error 414 (URL too long)
• Instapaper mobilizer fix
• The image caching was sometimes in an invalid state

If you like Mr. Reader, please rate it in the App Store every time an update comes out. That helps me a lot, thank you very much!

Customer Reviews

Worthy of a spot in your A list.

Last week I tried a number of readers even buying three and found them all lacking in one place or place or more. So I was very hesitant about spending more money on yet another. But the reviews persuaded me and after having used Mr. Reader I'm very satisfied.

At first I was very disappointed because it required an account with one of a number of feed services before opening and the first few were fee based which wasn't in my plans. I have a Feedly account which I'd found unsatisfying using its app, however I went ahead and selected Feedly and I couldn't of been more pleased. The feeds were imported perfectly and are extremely customizable once they were in.

It can open articles in the original webpage (or a number if other ways, customized on a per feed basis). This is where it shines for me, I can easily step back to any point I was at without losing my place.

Features are very customizable including syncing in the background, foreground etc, marking as read and so on.

My only complaint is the speed at which web pages are rendered, but I use a iPad 3 and that may be partly due to the speed of my processor.

I'm very demanding in how I want my reader to work and have been looking for a new one since Google closed, I think I finally have a new one.

Superb RSS Reader. Gorgeous Interface. The Best RSS Reader by Far.

Update is terrific. An absolutely extraordinary RSS reader
Mr. Reader is wonderful to use. It's beautifully designed, and fully featured. The developer is very friendly and helpful. The custom themes are great fun. And you can design your own! It makes reading news and other feeds more enjoyable. Impeccably designed and superbly implemented. I can't say enough about this app. The care taken in creating this app is unparalleled. Wonderful app, right up there with Flipboard. With each update the app becomes more perfect and more beautiful. This has got to be the most meticulously created app in the app store. Compared to other 5 star apps, this should be 10 stars. It's that good. Mr. Reader continues to get better and better. What a joy to use. There is nothing digital or paper based that is more powerful than this App.

Most powerful RSS reader for iPad hands down

My RSS reader of choice for iPhone, iPad and Mac has been Reeder for the longest time. That changed when Mr. Reader came out. Where Mr. Reader beats Reeder is in its powerful sharing capabilities. You can create custom actions to share text, articles and other data from the RSS feed articles to other apps. I share a lot of articles I find interesting to my friends and Mr. Reader gives me the ability to send these directly to my google voice app and send to a friend. Where I think Reeder still prevails is the gestures to star items. With that said, Mr. Reader has much more you can do to tailor the RSS reading experience to your exact needs. There is a lot I simply can't explain about why Mr. Reader is worth 2x as much as you'll pay for it so you'll have to try it for yourself.
