Musing is a photo recognition app that allows the user to scan artwork at participating museums and art galleries to learn more about the work and its artist.
Great way to interact with art!
I love visiting galleries, and I really enjoy seeing how a show is curated. I especially like seeing how a museum has people interact with the art, which is where this app comes in for Texas State. It's fairly new, and their entire collection and exhibits aren't fully up, but it is going to be amazing when it is running at full speed.
How it works:
1) You take a picture of the artwork you are viewing at the gallery or select one from the app gallery.
2) A catalog picture of the artwork will pop up with icons you can click on. These icons will offer you information on techniques the artist used, interesting factoids, articles, and other relevant information.
3) On the bottom, you will see a little banner with a picture of the artist, his biography, and references. You can also make it a favorite if you want to view it later on your device.
I go to so many art galleries and museums, and I really like this app. I'm so tired of audio tours and written guides. I really hope this idea takes off in the art community.
