A Must Have In The Parks
We just returned from a trip to Disney World and used this app with our Magic Bands. This app is a must-have! While you can schedule FastPasses at kiosks at the park, many days the lines were longer than some of the ride lines! There is Wifi in the parks and at the resorts now, but we often found it faster to use our cellular data because there were so many on wifi it seemed really slow. My complaints about this app were really only 2 (and I haven't used it since the update so there may have been a correction.) First, when I want to change to a different FP+ experience, it only searched for other experiences with the same time frame available. I often had to change the time frame for the previous experience several times (if available) to find the experience I wanted. Also, I thought deleting that particular FP+ would work, but it seemed to want to delete all my FP+S for that day! I wasn't willing to risk that, so I never went any further to try it. Other than those issues, it was fairly easy to use the app and I opened it constantly in the park, checking menus and wait times and looking at the maps, as well as working with the FP+ system.
Great App: tip to resolve dining conflicts
We have 3 families in our clan planning a trip to WDW in June, and have really liked this app for making plans (using on iPad.) We found a glitch in the program: If my sister made reservations for dinner, and then I tried to make reservations at the same time slot in a different location, it wouldn't let me, stating that I already had a reservation somewhere else. The issue was that when she first booked the reservation, it had "Shelly" and then Guest 1, Guest 2, Guest 3. When I went to book my reservation, I had "Karen", and then Guest 1, Guest 2, Guest 3. The system thought that the un-named guests were the same folks. So to avoid this, be sure to have the planners in each party designate the people in their party who dining, by using the Edit Dining Party button.
PS. Nice feature: each person gets to pick their own avatar, very nice feature to get the kids excited about going.
In addition to raising prices this year after raising prices last year, Disney understands the concept of supply and demand and how ridiculously it works in their favor. They've gone ahead and made a headache of an app to persuade it's park goers to stay in their hotels and get themselves wrist band fast passes, the only way to get fast passes now. Every member of my party struggled with the app, spending more time concerned with the app staring at our phones than enjoying each others company until we finally gave up on it. The information given on ride times and availability is sporadic. Upon asking a park employee for assistance, we were told to just keep trying until it works. This is a system that has been in place for 2 months and with Disney's never ending funds I would expect that to be enough time to fix this app, which should have been near perfect by the original launch for a company like Disney.
