Ratings and Reviews

This is on it's way to being a great app.

I would rate this 3.5 stars if I could. I am currently using it for my lesson plans because the pros outweigh the cons, but there are definitely still a few items on my wish list. First, I need fields for inputting standards, a unit title, and a lesson title. I also need to be able to sort lessons using those additional fields. I would also appreciate being able to filter my screen so that I can look at one class or one unit at a time. Next, a weekly and/or monthly view would be nice. Finally, if the common core standards were loaded so that one could be selected and the accompanying text would fill in automatically, that would be everything I need. Since not all states are adopting common core standards, perhaps a way for people to input their own standards would work in those places. If you can get those changes made, I will be lobbying my principal and superintendent to make this app available to our entire school and corporation. This app is already a great start, and I look forward to seeing the next update!

A Lesson in Frustration

Ok, I usually don't take the time to write reviews, however, I know how precious time is to a teacher trying to prepare lesson plans and I wouldn't want anyone to waste their time with this software. The app looked like a nice, simple way to write lessons in an easy to read format. In reality I have spent the better part of an hour trying to enter just one lesson plan. The curser will continually default back to the first text box repeatedly as you type in information I have never gotten past the third box of the actual lesson. The pop up for the grade level will also annoy you by remaining open and you need to close the app and return to the lesson to make it go away. I did find that if you start and lesson and give it a title, then mark it as completed you can return to it (as for editing) to finish filling in the information in the text boxes, alleviating the cursor problem. All of this is just too frustrating to make the app useful. To the developers, it was a great idea but make sure the bugs are gone before asking someone to pay money for it and waste time trying to use it.

Not easy to use

This app is basically the same as using a handwritten plan book or word. There is no calendar when selecting dates which means you have to get out your phone to select the correct day of the week. There is also no way to set a schedule and see a days worth of plans all together. There is no month view to see lesson plans on a month calendar for unit planning. I feel like intuitively you should be able to drag sections of the plans to rearrange them, but this isn't possible, so you have to cut and paste titles instead. Also, you should be able to save different formats for different classes. If you make changes to the format (cutting and pasting section titles) there should be a way to save that as a template and it would be best to have multiple templates for people who teach different subjects. This app should be free for what it currently offers. A good lesson plan app would be worth paying for, but I plan to keep using excel/ numbers so I regretting paying for this. Apple should offer a day trial for apps, it's difficult to judge an app without trying it out. This app was disappointing.
