Great app but...
Works well to organize your writing projects and synch them with your online account (although it did erase one of my projects in a recent synch but that could have been user error - not sure) Just like their online site, the interface is clean and simple and easy to use. The color coding for projects is handy...And I really love the password function so prying eyes can't see what you're working on if you ever let someone else use your iPad. It's brilliant!
One thing this app doesn't provide that other apps like Knowtes and Writers App does is the enhanced keyboard with an additional line above the keys providing many of the standard punctuations so you don't have to shift into it like quotes, tab, semi-colons etc. If MyWritingSpot did that, it would be AWESOME and I'd give it 5 stars.
As a rule I don't pay for apps and tend to stay with the free ones but due to the tie in with the online site which I've used for a while, it's definitely worth the $5...ok so I'm a penny off...
No idea why they're asking so much
You would think for 5 bucks this would be an amazing app; it's not.
It only integrates with their site (which means anything you sync will actually be there if you add an account) and the word processing is very minimum (basic text)
Also, there are many times where whether the keyboard is on screen or not it will still act like it's there causing this weird cut screen effect and also making it so you have to scroll more to actually read everything typed (most likely a glitch)
And as much as you would think it should, it does not automatically sync; you have to remember to press sync (at the bottom of the document list) every time you change anything. Not only that, it's also on you to remember to resync again if you change anything online before coming back to the app (can you say "overcomplicated"?)
I wish I could ask for my money back, but I'm sure using it for half a year probably makes that demand slightly ineligible.
Seems to be a very good app. I like the dictionary and Thesaurus feature. I like it a lot. Love the word and character counts. Don't understand where the naysayers get their huge gripes.
It would be nice to have a filing system to where you could group documents under certain headings. Ex: I am writing two books, I am writing letters from 2 different businesses that I have. It would be nice if I could file or place the chapters for book one under book one, file the chapters for book 2 under book 2, organize letters under each business.
