MyCatch by Angler’s Atlas is a new app that helps anglers track their catches, and at the same time help fisheries biologists by providing important catch data for their fisheries assessments.
Due to the high cost of traditional fish survey methods, such as creel surveys, netting surveys and aerial surveys, only a small number of waterbodies are monitored regularly. As a result, thousands of lakes and rivers lack current fisheries data.
MyCatch addresses this urgent need by providing a new way to collect fisheries data from anglers. Through the app you will be able to share your catch data with fisheries biologists and learn more about what fisheries research is going on. By using the app you become an active participant in fisheries conservation.
Your catch data is only shared with biologists and specific information about catch locations will remain private so your secret spot stays secret.
The app provides useful statistics to keep track of your catches, such as number of fish caught, catch rate, species and specific details around each catch. You will also see how the data is helping fisheries conservation.
My Catch is produced by Angler’s Atlas, an online platform that has catalogued hundreds of thousands of waterbodies, and helps anglers explore lakes, rivers and oceans with detailed maps, tips and local fishing information.
