Thanks to everyone for making MyRadar so successful, with over 8 million downloads!
MyRadar a fast, easy-to-use, weather application that displays animated weather radar around your current location, allowing you to quickly see what weather is coming your way. Just start the app, and your location pops up with animated weather, allowing you to easily see if rain is headed your way. Our high-res animated radar helps you see weather details even at the closest level!
What's great about MyRadar is that the map is easily zoomed and scrolled around with the flick of a finger, allowing you to quickly check the weather in other parts of the country, including Hawaii & Puerto Rico!
On top of the basic weather, users can get a quick glance of temperatures around the country, as well as overlay a current satellite image of cloud cover. For you aviation buffs, there's a layer that provides Airmets & Sigmets, and even the ability to overlay the flight plan of a particular aircraft onto the map. You can also share interesting weather photos from your area, and see photos other users have contributed neatly displayed on the map.
Additional options include weather warnings and alerts, complete with push notifications, to warn you of severe weather in your area. Great for the start of thunderstorm and tornado season! There's also an optional hurricane tracker, providing excellent details and projections for the path of storms as the season looms near.
MyRadar currently only shows weather in the United States, and only in the 48 contiguous states - not Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
Download MyRadar today and try it out...!
What's New in Version 3.1.1
This update addresses some issues raised by users with the most recent, previous update! Keep the feedback coming, it helps us make MyRadar the best app possible!
- The icons for "favorite locations" (stored locations on the map) now fade out after a second or two so that they no longer obscure the radar
- Storm Centers/Storm Wind indicators are now optional and selectable from the Radar Settings section
- Slight improvements to the forecast load times
- The forecast bar at the top is now slightly shorter in height, giving more room to see the map on older, smaller phones like the iPhone 4
- The forecast bar now fades out after 7 seconds instead of 10
- The extended forecast now indicates sunrise/sunset times
- The hourly forecast is now in the local timezone for the selected area
- We've added additional weather icons to better distinguish between the varying stages of cloudiness
- Corrected a bug with the bottom text of the extended forecast not fully displaying properly
A real review part 2
Well I've moved my rating from a half star to 2.5 stars.
I'm going to say that the improvements are welcome but at the same time the app was reverted in some ways to be back to what it was prior to the update that frustrated most of the hard-core users...so welcome back is what I'm thinking!
I will say the grey bar at the top is obnoxious at best, the graphics are boring, and it's simply way too big. Yeah I know I can turn it off, but what the heck was wrong with the colorful decent single box at the top left that gave the current temp wherever the crosshairs were, and where the user could tap to open a great graphic that revealed the 5 day forecast, then chose at a moment on the same screen to close it simply leave.
The last major update were not improvements more than they were change for the sake of change, an often costly mistake businesses make all the time...what made the app great was the simplicity, what will kill it is messing with the simplistic nature if what people like.
To demonstrate I would say look at the history of Google UI vs the Yahoo UI, what makes one better is the old saying, less is more.
This app will get more use now with these revisions than it did just after the major update, but still far less than It used to, and I still can't recommend it since this app is just like everyone else's cluttery weather apps.
Nice that creators listened
March 10, 2014 update: it is so nice that the creators of this app listened gave us options with the latest update. This was and now is again my most favorite weather app! Great job!
Feb 12, 2014 addendum:
upgrade added wind speed and direction arrows overlapping onto the storm images. I don't care about wind speed-i want to see how heavy the rain is going to be. I can't turn off wind speed and directional arrows. This should be an option. I will have to use another weather app until this is fixed. I am very disappointed. I have bought 5 weather apps and downloaded 5 more and this one has the best radar. Many promise the most hd radar but fail to provide crisp radar images-My Radar DOES provide crisp and accurate radar. The two weather apps I continue to go back to and mainly use are my radar and weather bug.
Love this app!! I like being able to see just the radar without having to see the forecast first....and I thoroughly enjoy the pic ppl post as well (I have actually sat for a couple of hours looking at them on a few occasions lol). PLEASE don't make any unnecessary changes to this app!! Unless it's the change I saw another user request of being able to drop a pin (or multiple pins) to selected areas of interest to view at every start-up. That would be great. I'm not always ONLY interested in the weather where I am at that particular moment. Sometimes I want to see weather where my loved ones are as well.....just a thought!!
