mySleepButton® is a CogSci Apps® invention designed to help you fall asleep. It’s so easy: Just lie in bed, touch the “Put Me to Sleep” button, imagine the various descriptions it reads to you, and let yourself fall asleep… pleasantly. That is the Cognitive Shuffle! It's based on Dr. Luc P. Beaudoin's research on sleep onset, insomnia and the architecture of the human mind. Beaudoin is Adjunct Professor of Cognitive Science and Education at Simon Fraser University (BC, Canada).
O, The Oprah magazine, calls mySleepButton “An easy little game to trick yourself to sleep.” Oliver Burkeman of The Guardian wrote in August 2017: "My top recommendation remains the visualisation method known as the “cognitive shuffle”: download the MySleepButton app". Quartz says mySleepButton is “a drug-free sleep trick for your restless mind”. International Business Times says “mySleepButton App Hijacks Thoughts to Help Sleep”.
Into mindfulness meditation? mySleepButton contains a configurable body scan pack. Still awake after your body scan? Instantly proceed to a cognitive shuffle guided-imagery.
You can try mySleepButton for FREE! Most packs cost less than a few good coffees, which you won’t need anymore ;) And besides: coffee interferes with sleep! You will have the added pleasure of knowing you are supporting R&D involving multiple universities and research psychologists who specialize in sleep and insomnia -- and who are working hard to help you get more and better sleep.
mySleepButton can also be triggered with Air Pods and played on Apple's Home Pod (or other devices). Stay tuned for its Siri Shortcuts in iOS 10.12.
Need to know more? mySleepButton/Beaudoin's Cognitive Shuffle research was also featured in the Canadian Government’s Institute of Health Research, The BC Medical Journal online, Popular Science Magazine ("Some things are just...better"), Forbes Magazine ("disrupt all patterns and rest in blissful chaos"), LifeHacker ("surprisingly effective"), The New York Times, HuffPost, and too many other places to list here. Check out http://mySleepButton.com for testimonials, more press coverage, and the scientific rationale for mySleepButton.
mySleepButton is the easiest, pleasantest, most imaginative solution for sleep.
So, why not enjoy a dreamy transition sleep? “Shuffle Your Thoughts to Sleep” with mySleepButton, a CogSci Apps Invention.
Improved wording to deal with cases where iOS offloads mySleepButton packs to reclaim space. When a pack has been offloaded, the label below it on the Packs tab now reads "Offloaded" rather than "expired".

I can’t believe it works
This is the first sleep app that has worked for me and I’ve tried many. I often have racing thoughts at night that keep me awake, but this app and this method allow me to turn them off enough to fall asleep. It’s amazing to say the least- I tell everyone about it. I’ve been having two issues, however. I haven’t been unable to figure out why, but for the last few nights, the sound stops before the timer is even halfway through. I can’t hear any words or scenes but if I look at my phone I can see the timer still counting down. Also, if I close the app (because I have to get up or something) and then try to start again, the timer begins at where I left off instead of resetting itself. So, if I stopped it with 12 minutes left, closed the app and restarted it again I’d only have 12 minutes on the timer instead of 20. I’ve read that some people have to restore their purchases every night so I’ll try that tonight, but it’d be ideal if the app worked every time without having to do so.
Works every time.
I found this app by accident, googling brain games to help sleep. A week later, I have used it every night, am in fact about to use it again, and I never even get through the 20 minutes. I fall asleep that quickly. Love it. For some reason my mind comes up with ideas for things when it should be resting, and this app helps flip the off switch. My only bugbear has already been mentioned. It forces me to restore the packs I bought every night. It's certainly not a deal breaker, but it is a pain in the rear to redownload every time. All in all though, love it and I was happy to buy two packs and further this research. I am blind, so I have trouble with the drawing pack, and sometimes the scenes, but the simple things packs work well for me, as it usually says things one can feel or at least hear, or a place I've been to like a garage
An interesting way to combat sleeplessness
I have a hard time shutting my brain off when it’s time to go to sleep. While most apps attempt to create a relaxing environment with sounds of birds or rain, this app helps by distracting you with words to deter your thoughts in varying directions. It’s an interesting concept that works intermittently for me. Definitely worth a try if you’re having a hard time falling asleep.
We solved the crackling noise issue in version 1.4.9. (Incidentally, the noise was due to an iOS 11 bug that affected iPhones speakers only, when earphones or external speakers were used, nor did it affect iPad. We worked around the bug as reported on the mySleepButton.com website. The noise is gone).
