I'm two days behind on my housework now!
I kept thinking, "I must be nearly finished with the game; I've been playing forever..." And I mean that in a good way. It's a really great game, with an excellent premise, story, and UI. It's got great cut scenes, graphics, strategy guide, hidden object scenes that have puzzles or interactive elements to them, mini-games, and these really amazing puzzles... The puzzles are complicated, have to be solved in stages, and are very interesting to work on. There's an in-puzzle hint/explanation feature, which is very helpful and can tell you explicitly what to do next if you're stuck. And the "Black Diary" is such a cool feature! It gives you information, but it also has puzzles and even locations inside it, later in the game! And I like the collectible items, too. There's money that you can use to buy your helper-cat toys and stuff with later, bobble heads of characters from this and other MCF games, and playing cards featuring characters, that you can play solitaire with when you've finished the game and found all the cards. So cool! And like I said, the game is far longer than many other hidden-object-adventure games, so it's totally worth the money. Seriously great game, people.
Pros: Clever, original, creepy and LONG. A new high in graphics and special effects. Really may be the best HO game yet, the reviews are not exaggerating. This sets a new standard in the category! Could NOT stop playing. The game throws curves at you just when you think you've got the hang of it. I love the kitty assistant, and loved buying her stuff (paid in money collected during he game, not real cash). HO scenes excellent and challenging.
Cons: Not many. Be ready to see stuff in the hint diary that doesn't appear in the IPad version (not that it's too short or anything, yikes). Only technical issues I had were two of the repeat-the-pattern by touch puzzles that were simply not responsive, so I skipped em. I may have missed something. Otherwise ran very smooth. The chain-reaction puzzles were amazing and very tricky, impossible to do without hints, but OTOH totally original.
Overall: FANTASTIC. A KEEPER. WILL PLAY AGAIN.
One of the better ones as of late
Finally, an interesting game well worth spending the outrageous price for HO's that Big Fish is trying to get away with charging over the last year or so. Although I am not willing to spend more than $3 for games produced by Big Fish as of late due to their poor quality control and obvious lack of corporate ethics, I do find that this app may be worth spending a little bit more on. But certainly not more than $5 at the most because the game needs an integrated map, the directions for some of the mini-games are not that clear and the voice quality/tone for some of the characters and/or mini films is quite poor. All in all though, this game is one of the better ones put out as of late, but that is not saying much for Big Fish, because they are losing many of their customers due to poor quality control, terrible customer service and corporate greed. Shame, shame, shame
