Great potential, but...
This game looks great and has nice interaction but is too dark to see anything! It's a hidden object game and, for some reason, like all the other ones it doesn't let you zoom in at all, but even worse, it's so dark, I end up using all the hints or just tap away to find anything! Very annoying. My eyes are fine, too, so that's not the problem. The backgrounds are extremely dark. Sometimes you can see highlights of something, but I can never tell what the actual object is. As for tapping away, there's no penalty for doing so, however, unless you hit the object dead on, it doesn't count. You might say that's a plus, but at one point I could clearly see the object I was after, but had to tap it at least 8 times before I hit the sweet spot.
The game has a nice storyline and interesting plot. You do have to tap dialog boxes to see what you say as well as the characters in the game which slows down game play but adds to the story so it comes down to personal preference. Still will the game being so touch sensitive and dark, it makes for difficult and frustrating game play.
Enjoyed the game.
The art seems a tad on the dark side, making some objects hard to see on my ipad4. I haven't yet tried to compensate by using the ipad's brighness slider, but then I haven't had to in any other game yet. The art does seem to 'suffer' from what appears to be art asset compression, as if taking a 32bit image and making it 8bit, you see a little bit of banding in some places. I believe this was originally released on the MAC, so they probably just reused/compressed a lot/all of the art to save room and make a smaller app size. That coupled with the ipad's higher resolution causing some upscaling might be causing some of the issue. I'd rather have had a 500mb app that looks better than a 125mb app that has the banding. Don't get me wrong though, its not obnoxious by any stretch of the word, its perfectly playable, but it does exist and it is distracting.
Now onto the good. I do like the art aesthetic, the music, the quickly recharging hint system, and the no dumb penalties for clicking around excessively when you get stuck on an item, and, get this, there seems to be no IAP in sight, can you believe it in this day and age?? a developer NOT out to milk you? :)
Overall, if you're a fan of the genre, this is most definitely worth the money. Much more enjoyable than spending money on IAP for some dumb endless runner.
Even with my device's brightness cranked all the way up to the max, the screen was just too dark to see many of the hidden objects, even when I knew about where they were. I wish the people making hidden object scenes would get it through their heads that hidden objects should be hard to spot, NOT hard to see.
