Maintenance Updates and Enhancements
Ratings and Reviews
I love my new Subaru and expect a lot from the car, so my expectations were high for the app as well. The first thing I noticed is they haven’t updated it for an iPhone X screen, which implies no effort for at least 8 months now. The menu system feels like it’s quickly thrown together rather than thought out to be useful, and I end up force closing the app to start over to find what I want in the app.
I’m a big fan of constructive criticism so here are my suggestions which I hope they read: Touch/Face ID would be faster/safer/easier than remembering a PIN and username/password, the ability to do ANYTHING in the app after sending a remote command would be great, a widget for locking/unlocking/starting, an update to more visually appealing/ useful GUI, and possibly integration with voice assistants.
While it’s better than no app, this app has a long way to go before it’ll earn any more stars.
Amazing vehicle... poor app
After using a number of competitors apps for vehicle control I was hopeful when I purchased our Subaru that the app would perform as simply and smoothly as others. This is not the case. This is probably the worst app I have interacted with on my phone. It’s clunky, requires far too many steps to do anything on the vehicle and unnecessarily requires multiple sign in/pin inputs.
I would agree with a number of other reviews. Enable Face-ID and update the user interface so that the user can easily remote start their vehicle (like a simple button on a remote does) and allow ease of performing multiple tasks in a single sign-in. I am surprised with the cost of using the app that it is not better executed. There are quite a few benchmarks out there to compare to (think Ford) and many others.
Please update the app and finish off and match the thoughtful design and interface I have come to expect with my Subaru.
Cheap, outsourced app
The design for this app was rushed and it shows. Need to access Messages or Vehicle Health? Keep tapping back until you get to the home screen because neither are in “Menu.” Need to access settings? It’s hidden on the bottom of the page in Starlink. Need to tap on that button on the bottom of the screen? Hope you didn’t queue up a command for your vehicle as that will cover it up and you’ll have to wait for that command to succeed or fail. Oh and you’ll have to remember a pin number because Subaru didn’t want to spend the extra $ to implement TouchID or FaceID security like every other app. Safari Passwords won’t work, either.
It’s not a wonder when the app breaks, because it isn’t designed or built by a proper app developer. It’ll unlock your car sometimes, yeah, if the stars align and if you can find the right screen.
