N.C. Zoo: Gorillas
By Juanita Wrenn
This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
This app runs in iOS 7 and earlier.
The birth of two baby boy gorillas in August of 2012 at the North Carolina Zoo marked an historic event! To celebrate, a special edition app was created that features our very special troop of Western Lowland gorillas. Meet Olympia, Apollo, Jamani, Bomassa and Acacia. Explore the fascinating lives of gorillas here at the N.C. Zoo and find out about our conservation efforts with gorillas in the wild. Inside the magazine-style app you can learn about each member of the troop, play interactive games, watch videos of gorilla feedings and meet the keepers who take care of these gentle giants.
"Not only will this application promote the Zoo’s extraordinary Western lowland gorilla exhibit to visitors,... but its educational value including interactive games, videos, and introduction to the Zoo’s amazing gorilla “keepers” has great potential to be used as an educational tool for students in local, regional, state and even national school systems!" –T. O’Kelley, Director of Tourism, Heart of North Carolina Visitors Bureau

I really enjoy this app. It is easy to navigate and very informative. I especially like the way the pages are so interactive with facts and even videos. You really get to know the actual gorillas that live in the zoo. The designer did a great job making this app fun for children and adults!
