Is it newstand or ng traveler?

JonBoyFL64

I had my previous digital subscriptions on zinio...and while I am not trying to say zinio is better, I has never experienced the absolute lousy way in which, I guess, one is supposed to subscribe and download issues of ng traveler. After paying for an annual subscription, newstand STILL does not allow me to access any magazines. What is so incredibly sad is that an astounding publication like ng would have its undoing because of not having intelligent-enough IT persons to make their magazine accessible in the digital age. Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell if the disconnect is with the newstand app or with the ng service. I am upset, yes, but the contributors to ng should be furious.

Updating my comment above. In all fairness, I accepted an emailed offer from ng traveler magazine on a Saturday. And while I couldn't access the subscription over the weekend, today (Monday), I have gained access to my digital subscription. What clued me in to retry accessing the subscription was an emailed "thank you for your order" email that I received today. So I am happy now. Raising my stars from 1 to 5...because, come on, it's National Geographic Traveler...you can't beat that.

New Format is a step backward

I just lost all my issues from 2010 to now and can't get them back without paying again. How can a top rated App turn into a disaster? My comments below show the frustration with the new issues but now I can't even get the old ones I pad for. 2010, 2011, 2012 all inaccessible? This is crazy.

I do not like the new Landscape format. The page does not fit on the IPad screen and you have to scroll to see the whole page. Why? It also loads as you navigate rather all at once like on issues before May 2012. It is very irritating. I have loved this app from day one but if they don't go back to the old version or correct the new one I will not renew. Might even try to get my money back for future issues. I will not read May and June/July as they drive me nuts. Talk about messing up a good thing, this new version is a major blunder. I would not subscribe to the new higher price for a complete bust. It's now Aug 31 and I looked again and still no change. How sad to have an App you love destroyed by a supposed upgrade but is a "Downgrade". I hope someone takes control from who ever is responsible. I'm very sad.:(

National Geographic is Greedy and Dishonest

Leucothoe

After trying multiple times to access the digital magazine on my iPad and repeatedly getting an error message that said my subscription did not allow it, I discovered upon reading reviews that unlike EVERY OTHER MAGAZINE, this access depends on the price paid for the print subscription. This is completely dishonest because no where in the subscription information does it say that. It's also a stupid policy since it makes all of us HATE National Geographic because of the stupidity of this policy. I get many magazines and there is no other that charges more for digital access. So, when my print subscription comes up for renewal, forget it. I'm through with Nat Geo Traveler until the policy changes. I have other travel magazines that are more user friendly and clearly more interested in having me as a subscriber.
