Customer Reviews

Downloadable maps won't download fully

Update: a further six months have passed, and the app's downloadable maps still stall at 61%, rather than transferring completely. I've been trying for months now, and every single time the maps stop at precisely 61%. Must be a server issue, as I've tried in multiple locations. Renders the app unusable without an Internet connection.

Another serious problem is that there's still not nearly as much detail as there is in a good print atlas. I wish they'd include another level of country-specific detail for download—maybe as an in-app purchase?

But more importantly, why doesn't anyone at National Geographic care about these terrible reviews?

Search function still unusable

I had been waiting for a good update for a while now, because I bought this app for school, before I realized physical features are unsearchable. It would have been nice had national geographic added in a way to search physical features like water bodies, and mountain ranges, but it still hasn't happened yet. Once these features have been added, my rating will become much higher. Also. The UI is still somewhat annoying, with country info popping up while zoomed in, greatly reducing my view area. Please think about these changes!

Sad the National Geographic Would Put this Out

It takes literally a WHOLE day to download maps for offline use. Even if you are on a ridiculously fast connection. Their server is pathetic. Not only that, but this isn’t even updated for the iPhone 6 - not even their latest “update”. There is little to no QA done on this product, and I would have expected more from the National Geographic Society. Do they not realize that this product represents them to a lot of people? Do they not care about these consistently horrible reviews? I suppose not...
