NEW! – The National Parks Explorer now includes the Grand Canyon and the Blue Ridge Parkway. New users may choose any one of the nine parks as their FREE park. The others are available for purchase, or buy ALL parks and save.
The National Parks Explorer brings together and efficiently organizes a vast amount of information – from the National Park Service’s website, brochures, interpretive markers, Wikipedia, and other sources – into an elegantly designed mobile guide with over 1900 articles.
■ Includes Acadia, Great Smokies, Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Natchez Trace Parkway, Glacier, Rocky Mountain, Grand Canyon, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
■ Utilizes an easy-to-use interface to quickly find the information you want, much of which is otherwise hard to find and inaccessible while you are within the boundaries of the Park (most of which have spotty or no mobile phone coverage).
■ Beautifully illustrated with over 2000 photographs and historical works of art showcasing the fascinating history and scenic wonders of each park.
■ 960 geo-located points-of-interests.
■ Hundreds more articles on park ecosystems, wildlife, geology, history, activities and more.
■ Beautiful National Park Service maps that are available at all times. Toggle between these and the more precise iPhone maps. The NPS maps also display automatically when there is no data connection (NPS map display requires iOS4).
■ “Locate Nearest” button scrolls guide lists – such as waterfalls, trailheads, and historic sites – to the nearest Point-of-Interest. Even locate the closest bathroom!
■ All articles have footers linking directly to the source text on the National Park Service website, Wikipedia or other online source.
■ "More Information Available" footers load relevant NPS web pages into the app viewer. Allows the user to conveniently access such timely subjects as road conditions or closures, park news and events, as well as important park service information such as backcountry camping rules and campground reservations.
■ Manage individual Favorites lists for each national park. Create your own tour!
The Grand Canyon – the place Teddy Roosevelt said “every American should see.” It's a geological time machine the sheer immensity of which is truly astonishing.

Various content edits and additions, including an improved Shiloh Battlefield tour, organized according to the order of the events in the battle.
Love this app! My family and I visit the national parks whenever we can, and this app is perfect for us. It's filled with useful information, fascinating detail, and gorgeous photos. The location-specific info is wonderful. I used to buy an assortment of guidebooks for every trip - no more! This has all the info I need, both for planning and travel. IMO, you won't regret the purchase.
I recently traveled to Glacier for a family vacation and this was almost as useful as the map we received at the Ranger station. It gives detailed information about areas of interest, even trail lengths, and tons of information about the wildlife and things in the park. I would highly recommend this app and the best part is you get one park for FREE!!!
Must have App for adventure lovers!
This app should win an award for amazing design and useful content. I absolutely love the detailed info that the app provides and it has been invaluable in helping to plan our trip to Acadia NP. Please continue to update the app and add more parks! Apple - showcase this app!
