Better than expected

The $25 is well worth the convenience of having a reliable navigation system on my phone instead of carrying my Garmin around or relying on the factory-installed Google Maps application. When approaching a highway exit, the map switches to a "lane view" showing exactly how the exit is going to appear and highlighting the proper route with orange arrows. The speed limits displayed are reliable and changed just seconds after I saw the signs on the road. When an exit is missed, the program recalculates and finds a new route instantly. The dual functionality of using the iPod is a great feature and is optimal when plugged into my auxiliary jack on my car stereo. When approaching a turn, the music volume lowers, the directions are given, and the music volume is then returned to the previous volume. On my 3GS, searching for Points of Interest is instantaneous, so I'll probably delete my other apps that show nearby restaurants, banks, etc.

It seems like the app is going to drain battery quickly, so a car charger is going to be necessary for longer trips. Also, if the phone is mounted too far from the driver, the text looks small, but this is a limitation of the iPhone's screen size.

Problem With Upgrade

I initially purchased MyRegion Central, then used in-App purchase to add East Region and eventually Traffic Live. A year later I bought West Region. When I installed the 1.8 upgrade, I only could use Central and West; East and Traffic Live were not recognized. I still had the receipts so I contacted Apple and they verified that I had made the purchases and said I should contact the developer. Naturally Navigon said I should contact Apple. After a little detective work, I found that by tapping Extras on the Home screen and scrolling down to the bottom of the list, there is a button labeled Restore Purchases. Tapping this verified purchases and activated all components. With the exception of this minor problem I absolutely love this application. I used it to drive from Minnesota to New Jersey, all around the tri-state area and back home and it performed flawlessly! Traffic Live took me around three construction zones; once I drove parallel to the gridlock and just whizzed right on by. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I am not sure about this purchase yet. First it does not recognize my own address. The second problem is that it asks me to type in my I TUNES password every time I use the program. This is very annoying. . . Since it is requesting the I TUNES password and not my Navigon password, I suspect that this is an "Apple trying to control everything" issue. I have read in some posts that there is a fix for this. Could someone please post how to fix the password prompt problem. It would be greatly appreciated!! I will post another review and let you know if I was given a fix and whether it worked or not.

Update! I talked with Apple who recomended I delete the program from my phone and reload it. This seems to have solved the password prompt problems. I took a drive today without any password prompts!! Seems to be a great app. I do agree that it could use a search feature though.
