Ness instantly recommends restaurants based on the kinds of places you like, what you're in the mood for, and who else you’re with. Just like you discover music with Pandora or movies with Netflix, Ness learns your tastes as you rate, save, and dismiss restaurants, then finds new places you'll love. Selected by Apple as an "App Store Best of 2012" and Editor's Choice in 2013, and powered by over 6,500,000 ratings from Ness users, Ness is the fastest way to get restaurant recommendations for you, not the crowd.

See Below for More Details:
On February 6 of this year Ness was acquired by OpenTable. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Ness team and the recommendation technology we’ve worked hard to build over the past few years.
With OpenTable we’ll be able to not only help people find great restaurants, we’ll also be able to help restaurants get to better know their customers and find new ways to make dining out a delightful experience.
As a result, the Ness app and website will be discontinued as the team focuses on bringing the Ness technology to OpenTable’s products. Ness will stop functioning on Monday, April 21. If you’d like to export your ratings, reviews, and lists, please let us know.
On behalf of our entire team, we want to thank you for using our product and for the feedback and suggestions so many of you provided along the way.
sadder than sad
this has served a unique function not only background functionality. does seem as if the point of integration is to kill the idea of finding places that don't take reservations and or don't buy into the point system. OT works fine for those limited numbers but I've discovered so many more different nearby-ish places since I discovered & regularly used this app. I'm
soooooooo DISSAPOINTED that my favorite app is going to dissappear. and that's what is going to happen: technology but not functionality might live on but I see nothing good in this for true Ness lovers. hope you are at least getting a lot of money for your brilliant idea.
An Unfortunate Turn of Events
For the time I had it, I enjoyed using Ness. It combined the best of form an function, as it had a clean and simple UI/UX, but did everything it was meant to do just fine as well.
It's a shame that OpenTable has bought Ness, and decided to kill of the app, because OpenTable's own app will never quite reach the point of perfection that Ness did. Ah well, although I do appreciate the fact that you can export your data.
As a side note, I will not be converting to OpenTable once this is all said and done.
This was an app that I used literally every time I wanted to pick a place to eat. It was a fantastic way to keep tabs on all the places I wanted to try and all of my favorites. I despise opentable for taking it away. Here's hoping their app will actually integrate the Ness model well.
