Great content, abysmal support!
This is a great app - when it's working. The available content is unrivaled anywhere. But when it's not working, it is incredibly frustrating. Want to clip an article either to iBooks or Evernote? There is a feature for this, you can even turn on Link to Evernote in your account settings. It doesn't work, though. No matter where you try to clip it to, nothing happens. I addressed this to customer support and was told the problem is on Evernote's side. Is it on Apple's too? Because it also doesn't clip to iBooks.
Tonight I tried to sign in to the app and wasn't able to. Attempts to reset my password first took me to the Canadian site even though I'm in the US. When I finally made my way to the right place, I couldn't complete the process because various links on the page are broken. It's 2016. Resetting a password should be a simple, automated process.
Please step up your game Texture. I love the content, but not enough to be paying for what I can't access.
THE app for magazine junkies...
May 6, 2016 - dropping from four to three stars. Recent updates brought back many previous glitches that had been resolved. App crashes for no apparent reason, and downloaded magazines don't retain the last page you were on like they used to - they always revert back to the cover page. Still better than buying hard copy magazines, but app has enough bugs to make it a very frustrating experience at times. App was close to five stars a couple of versions ago, so why would you mess with success? Fix the bugs and then leave well enough alone!
If you love magazines but hate spending money every month on all the MANY that you love...this is the app for you! One price...for almost all of my favorites. And nothing to throw away or try to recycle!
I've used Next Issue on an iPad 2 and now on an iPad mini. It's far less glitchy than it used to be, and generally improves with each update (emphasis on generally). It's a solid four, and with some tweaks (um...bookmarks?), it could be a five.
But none of the drawbacks are significant enough for me to not use it...I do so happily and enthusiastically. Because I'm a magazine junkie...
App painful, but great concept and content
The concept of this app is fantastic. The content is outstanding--all your favorite magazines, plus more you didn't know you'd like. However, this app is virtually unusable. It always freezes my entire iPad after a few pages, requiring a hard restart of the entire iPad. When the app reopens, it takes me back to the home page, requiring many more clicks to open my list of magazines, then re-open the one I was reading, find my place again...only to have it freeze and restart again a few minutes later. I've reinstalled multiple times, closed other apps, freed space, etc. Hope they fix this some day.
