Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Nextdoor doesn't run GPS in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require it.

Love this app, BUT....
I really like this app! It does really help you keep in touch with those around you, especially lost pets, community events, etc. There are things that need to be changed! There needs to be an EDIT option for posts! That's irritating! There also needs to be an option for replying to a specific comment on a post, not just the option of posting more comments on the original post. Ex: Jane posts something, and Jack leaves a comment. If I need to comment on Jack's comment, that's not an option, so I just have to comment on Jane's original post. If you are reading down the list of comments, it's sometimes difficult to figure out who is talking about what. Might also be helpful to add a tone that automatically sounds when someone posts something as URGENT, so we get immediate notice instead of seeing it an hour later when it would really NEED to be seen immediately (ex: we had a woman post that someone was riding down the street on a bike taking mail from boxes. I noticed in almost an hour after the fact. Not real useful at that point. Those are my recommendations. I really do like the app though! We really are able to watch out better for each other and I LOVE that!
Awesome App- Nextdoor helped us find our missing dog within 10 minutes
I can't say enough positive things about this NextDoor app. It is a very well organized method of keeping a community informed and also reaching out to everybody in the community with an urgent alert. In our case our dog had run out an open door and we could not find him anywhere around the house. Our dog Davos is like a member of the family no different then one of our children, so when he turned up missing we were frantic. It dawned on me to use the urgent alert feature of the next-door app, and within 15 minutes – was found and retrieved and back home safe!
Like any app, it's only as good as the data put into it. So of course sometimes people put out information that may not be fully informed, but even then is an opportunity to share further information with they can process.
Anyway especially after experience using NextDoor to find our dog, I highly recommend it.

Love this app. I can stay in touch with neighbors, set up events, send emergency notifications, find mutual interests. I've used it to help lost dogs get home to their owners, buy from my neighbors with items to sell, and set up community projects.

Edit: Downgraded review: No edit feature on posts, so if there is a spelling error or typo, you can't go back and fix it. Navigation is a little clunky, so it's hard to find something you are looking for without time consuming search Plus, even after you leave a review you are asked to leave another review about every two weeks. I would rate it 3 stars for the "no-edit" feature and the navigation and 0 stars for the incessant requests to review the app. I believe that if everyone gave 1 star for apps that constantly pester you to review, even after you have already left a review, programmers would eventually fix this feature.
