Nice Molecules is an app to discover the chemical molecules that are all around us and are the basis of life. The application can display molecules from a database of 250+ compounds!

View chemical molecules in 3D, manipulate them with your fingers or let them rotate round and round mesmerizingly. Learn about where they are present, what role they play either in human life, in plants, when they were discovered and what they're used to!

Chemical molecules are present everywhere in our daily life, and Nice Molecules helps you learn a bit of basic chemistry by knowing them better!

PS: If you have idea for molecules that belong to our list of "everyone should know", but are not in there yet, we'd be happy to hear about it!

What's New in Version 1.4

* Add more molecules (total: 255)
* Improve PDB format reading
* Fix some molecules
* Fix iPad crash on "more info"

Great interface, smooth rotation

A lot of the 3D molecule viewers are frustrating to use or contain no molecules and you must find the ones you want from a database that is poorly managed. This one already includes a great number of them (for reference, I use them for basic general chem, biology, and o-chem) already preloaded, complete with Wikipedia links. It is a fantastic quick reference. It also lets you toggle between model views, which is helpful for different types of molecules.

Would be perfect and get 5 stars if:

You could group molecules by function or group (hydrocarbons, amino acids, etc) for easy search and access
You could build your own molecules and save them
You could manipulate existing molecules by adding/removing functional groups, combining/splitting molecules to demonstrate de/hydration reactions, etc.

Good, basic app for making and observing molecules

While adding he features another reviewer asked for would be nice, the app would probably not cost $1.99 any longer if they id add them. As is its inexpensive, simple to use and works.

Good, but chemical formulas, a search function, and groupings would make it much more powerful.
